Lovely looking 458 that MisterBigglesworth, very similar spec to mine and was tempted by it too. Hope Dean looks after you and you enjoy a fantastic first day with the car cool.
Thank you. Funny because I was looking at this and the car you bought as they were almost identical in spec - at least we both got the car we wanted!

Fantastic day up at DMB Collection. Dean was hosting a SCD cars and coffee.

So big plus of buying from DMB was I got my test drive on the airfield around the taxi way circuit.. first time being able to full throttle to the floor and my God it's good.. how owners dont do the miles in these is beyond me..cant wait to get on a track day in it.

Paperwork all done, deposit paid in full, just waiting for aldermore to release funds and car will be delivered to London some time next week.

Car is grigio Silverstone so much darker than photos show and the stripe is factory painted.

Seeing it under proper lights next to a rosso car I've decided I'm not going to skin it red..such an amazing paint finish it looks sublime as it is.

Has every carbon bit ticked so doesn't need a thing. And bonus was Dean said its still under a Ferrari extended warranty from when the previous owner bought it..

Also very happy with the number plate mount I bought.

Took 15 seconds to fit , basically sprung loaded and clamps onto the bottom of the bumper and easy to remove for track days.

Plan is to have a smaller plate on normally then a second one in the boot with a legal plate on in case I get that one awkward bib with a tape measure...

View of mount from underneath. Has a nice neoprene rubber pad to stop the bumper getting scuffed..very good quality bit of kit and very solid fit.

The SCD breakfast meet at dmb just came up on my insta video feed, your car looks really nicely prepped and in great condition.

Grigio Silverstone is one of my favourite colours on the 458 (prefer it to G.Titanium!), a friend had a coupe in that colour and it looked stunning whilst showing off the carbon really nicely. I love the detail of the painted stripes too, really sets it apart. Yours must be one of the best specified 458s out there.

I know what you mean about the experience when you open it up, race mode > manual > bumpy road (unless you are on track) and the smiles don't stop. Had a couple of runs out in mine with the roof off in the nice weather this past week and its the most engaging car I've driven since I had my Exige S2. And that noise from the screaming V8!

I've picked up a similar number plate holder funnily enough but not fitted it yet. First job was new rubber as the tires were dated 2013 and I'm heading to Scotland on a road trip next week which I didn't fancy in October on cracked/hard rubber.

Not decided if I'll track it or not but would be rude not to do at least one or two days if the opportunity presents. Considering a S3 Exige as a track car but not sure I need both tbh...

If you find yourself up the north end of the M11 feel free to swing by for 458 cars and coffee on a smaller scale smile.

Yummy, PM'd re plate holder.

What's the verdict on carbon seats? Is it a must-have option? What difference do they make in terms of comfort/control?

I bought my plate holder on ebay for £250. It works well but you need to be very careful when fitting it as the metal gets a bit close to the paintwork!

I have bucket seats and love them. I believe you sit slightly lower in them compared to the normal seats. And they just suit the car so well. I'm about 5'8" and they are a fairly snug fit - so if you are 6 foot plus they might be a bit of an issue. They were a must have for me when I was looking - and as they are not electric there is less to go wrong !

A few pics:

Sent you a email with the link to buy it direct or on eBay.

Regarding carbon seats - I spent 4 days with bespokes 458 spider rental which has standard seats, I did personally find them a bit soft and started to get a back ache after about 3 hours driving due to lack of lumbar support. I found the carbon seats super supportive, they are very firm which suits me better and hold you in place very well without being too restrictive, having tried both iI’d Only have wanted the carbon seats. Was happy to lose the electric adjustment as less electrics and less weight smile - they are also very bling smile

I’m 6’0 and found sitting lower in car helped, as I found I had to duck a bit to see the top of the instruments in cluster on the stock ones which have more cushion.

Will definitely make time to come up and compare notes, would be nice to see the difference in colour in the metal side by side smile

Agree regarding the exige, it just feels like a scaled up go-kart, nothing has made me grin and laugh so much while driving in years. I get the turbo cars are technically better but as an emotional package and on looks the 458 is pretty much peak mid engined Ferrari in my books, found the 488 technical but fussy vs the Pininfarina design which reminds me a lot of the curvaceous Dino and 328 era lines.

I think the 20k mile barrier is psychology over reality because it still is highly condition dependent, the car I got still has that jewel like Ferrari prep that you get from franchises as it lived in a collection since JCT sold it, I looked at lower miles examples that didn’t look nearly as good so I think buying on spec, condition & provenance is always key.

This thread has turned unto the class of 21 spider buyers club - 3 in a month at the end of season should reinforce why 458 residuals are staying so strong !

Heres a photo of the 458 from bespokes with thr mount fitted with a 9 x 3 inch plate. I'm buying a 5 digit plate which makes the font a bit bigger. I tan the gauntlet of knightsbridge missing plate patrols and didnt have any issues but worth keeping a full size in the trunk just in case

Nice numbers. There are those that will rip them to shreds but if it gets you into your dream car for a period of time, who cares? Life’s too short etc.

I have the Carbonia 458 plate holder for sale from my now sold 458. If you want to save yourself a packet I will sell it to you for half the cost of a new one.

Look forward to it. Nothing like a good old fashioned PH argument about car finance to fill the time.

Posted the figures for the benefit of anyone like me who was on the fence about buying and curious what sort or numbers are being offered at the moment to decide if they should indulge

Anyone who finds asset finance abhorrent and satanic is welcome to their own world view whilst I enjoy one of the greatest cars ever made safe in the knowledge the inflation rate will make a locked in 6.4 percent rate look like a interest free deal soon enough...

Just so that I understand - I’ve never financed a car - you’re paying £50k plus £24k to use the car for 4 years. If, at the end of those 4 years, you decide to walk away, you don’t get your deposit back so it’s cost you £74k in total. If you keep the car, it’s cost you £169k and you have whatever the car is worth at that time, unlikely to be hugely less than the current £145k, say £135k, so it’s cost you £34k in total. If you bought the car for cash, it would have cost you £10k. Is that correct or am I missing something?
