458/488 Brake Recall in US announced

FChat link below is to news that the US NHTSA has issued a recall notice concerning the multitude of 458/488 brake failure issues that have been noted.
Ferrari North America, is recalling certain 2010-2015 458 Italia, 2012-2015 458 Spider, 2014-2015 458 Speciale, 2015 458
Speciale Aperta, 2016-2019 488 GTB, and 488 Spider vehicles. The brake system may leak brake fluid, resulting in a loss of braking
ability.

Interesting idea to issue a recall notice without a solution - what exactly are owners (or dealers) supposed to do ?

I agree. I sent the pdf of the safety recall to the Service Manager at Dick Lovett yesterday. He had not heard anything but was going to make some enquiries at his end. It is unlikely to be a US only problem. The parts involved are made by Bosch and they have been involved in the US investigations

a problem exists in certain Model Year 2010-2015 458
vehicles. The vehicles involved are equipped with a braking
system that could potentially leak brake fluid, which may lead
to a total loss of braking capability, and result in an accident.
We want to assure you that your safety is our priority, and we
are committed to correcting this condition in your vehicle if it
exists.
Our records show that you are the owner of this vehicle.
Ferrari is conducting further research to determine the root
cause and possible scope of this problem. We will contact
you as soon as we have further instructions for you. In the
meantime, if a message appears on your dashboard,
"Brake fluid level low, Go to dealer slowly", please pull
off the road as soon as it is safe to do so. Then contact
Ferrari Roadside Assistance at 1.866.788.6760. Your car will
be taken to the nearest authorized Ferrari dealer and
inspected free of charge. If necessary, Ferrari will perform
any necessary repairs to your vehicle for free.
Note: The vehicle's electric parking brake can be used as
an emergency brake when the vehicle is in motion. See
your Owner's Manual for further information.

I just saw an article on this…Will the parts be that different in the US cars opposed to the Euro ones?! Seems unlikely, but who knows.

The article i just read said…

“According to a recall announcement by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in late October, those particular supercars could suffer from a sudden loss of braking performance, and Ferrari suggests not driving them until a remedy can be found.”

So there you have it, garage queen it is!
