In France st a super market last year. A Frenchman comes up to me just as I am getting out of the car and says

“Ferrari she is beautiful, oh la la, Ferrari superb”

My mate has just climbed out of his brand new Porsche Targa GTS point to his car and says to the Frenchman “Porsche?”

The French chap glances at the Porsche , does a dismissive hand gesture and says “Porsche… PAH!”

My mate is so crestfallen. Obviously I remind him several times a month, old Ferrari trumps fancy Porsche smile
Probably had as many Porsches as Ferrari's but for me it was always an event getting the Ferrari out of the garage which

i never got with the Porsche's, just looking at the prancing horse on the steering wheel was enough to excite me,

Having a cup of coffee while i waited for the gearbox to warm up in the driveway so i could get 2nd gear was all part of the

ritual of the older cars something you didn't need to do with the Porsche's and most of performance cars i've owned,

a pain if in a hurry but if not used as a daily driver another thing to savour .

The older Porsche's were better built than the Italian stuff but just lacked for me the Italian flair , character and

excitement but after saying that i would kill for a modern GT3 or a classic RSR even though it would probably have to be a

decent replica looking at the price of the original one's. Think it's one of those things ,if you got to ask the question you wouldn't

understand the answer,

I love my 80s 911 and will never sell it, had it 18 years and it’s going to the grave.

But a Ferrari is a totally different proposition and as Rat Rod says the sense of occasion is out of this world.

strange but everyone loves a Lambo not just kids, that's one thing that hasen't changed modern or classic,
I agree with possibly one exception. My experience from motor shows when displaying is that Lambo tends to trump Ferrari, even more so with the kids. If there is a Huracan present it'll get a lot more attention than a 458. My car mad 7 year old will go out of his way to get a closer look at a Lambo, sometimes making me detour to follow one we've seen, even when he's currently riding in his Dad's Ferrari. The exception came when we were walking down the road and passed an Urus. He didn't even notice; it may as well have been a Volvo. An SUV is an SUV no matter what badge is on the nose.

I totally get the point of people who say they don't care what reaction they get, since they got the car for themselves and not anyone else. However I'm not ashamed to say that I do care. When I was a kid I was always excited when I saw an exotic car, Seeing a supercar didn't happen very often and always made me smile. If someone smiles and waves, asks to look inside, or asks to take a picture with the car, then I like to think I have brightened their day a little, and that makes me happy.

I think a car show is the only place i've been asked if their kid or girlfriend can take a photo or sit in one of my cars apart from my old classic yanks,

then it could be anywhere i stop . Yes it's nice to share something that maybe i take for granted and show that we are not the self-important show off's

that some people think we are. nono

100% When I was on my way to Le Mans a few years ago with a bunch of mates in Maserati's, we stopped in a town one night and the next morning there was a kid (about 10 or 11) with his dad taking pics of the cars. I'd just stated my GTS up and asked him if he wanted to sit in it and rev it.

The smile of his face was priceless! Within seconds he was Facebook 'live' (whatever that is) of him revving a Maserati.
In under 10 minutes there must have been 20 kids all taking pictures of cars. Sitting in them. And generally giving them access to cars (it would appear) would be well beyond the reach of them normally.

We're fortunate to own beautiful cars, so the least we can do is share them with others.

Totally agree

Quite a few kids and grown ups have sat in my cars at Le Mans, car shows and even just when I have been parked up. For me its part of the pleasure of the cars.

I also let trusted friends drive my cars, for some they will never have that experience otherwise.

The 360 is such a great looking car and really all the power you need on the road to just enjoy driving. I didn't find the F430 as fun to drive and everything I've driven after that slowly gets more clinical as it gets newer. Just my 5 cents
