Wouldn't it be great if Mr Berman read this thread. I hope he would take it all in good humour and tell us more about his 400 - much more interesting than PNPs!

I recognised the non-PNP of this car, as there are a couple of googlable photos of him racing it about thirty years ago. I use the term "racing" in quite a broad sense.

I've chatted to Robert about this at various FOC events and he does have strong views. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

I think they're good fun and good for disguising the age of your car.

Yes I have a vulgar private plate and it goes well with my vulgar red Ferrari.

Absolutely. It's a free country. Bizarre matter to have strong views about, and rather unsophisticated to do so. In the article cited, he seems to suggest that people with these plates are likely to die sooner than people with normal plates. Worried much?

Look at this chav, all PNP'd up. I expect this bloke wouldn't know opera if it showed up in a ball gown and yodelled at him.

The late Queen had this plate on her car for many decades…

It was on a Range Rover at her funeral…

Don’t think you can accuse the Queen of being nouveau, although I don’t think she liked opera much.

My own view is it depends on the plate. Some are undoubtedly naff, others witty, and some discretely stylish.

QE2 was definitely the archetypal PNP owner, whose interest in opera only went so far as a rumoured association with the Royal Opera House.

I expect that, unlike the Queen, Robert is the sort of person who has to pay to attend the opera. Unfortunately, charging them doesn't seem to be a totally effective deterrent.

The Queen’s MYT1 for ‘Mighty One’ is regarded by that plonker in the article as a status symbol, that makes their owner look more like a social climber who is trying too hard.

Private plate.
Opera (Welsh National in Cardiff).
No Ferrari.

Am I doing this wrong?

If PNP's were good enough for Liz. Then they're good enough for me.

I like how his definition of sophistication and taste is set by people who attend operas 😂

In Pretty Woman (I know it's only a film) Julia Roberts (a hooker) attended the Opera.

So he clearly doesn't set the bar high! biggrin
