I suppose one of the joys about motoring forums is a shared experience, after all there's nothing quite like an exchange of ideas, thoughts and opinions. Not quite as good as doing it over a pint of beer perhaps but a friendly exchange nonetheless.

On the other hand we could all sit behind a keyboard and just, well, be antisocial I guess.

For me it’s due to the lack of candidate cars to try. Nearest car for sale is 160 miles and not one I’d personally purchase. If others think I’ll likely fit without any issues, I’d make the trip.

I thought that might be the case, good luck with your search.

Been looking at 488’s lately.

I’m 6’3 and wondering whether I’d fit in a spider with the roof up? I understand the spider roof is lower due to the mechanism.

Anyone similar height or taller and fit ok?
I’m 6’3 and had a 488 spider. No problems at all, very spacious leg room and sufficient head room but must get racings seats with height adjustor.

Sounds a great reason to go and sit in one, it’s hardly a chore.
Great suggestion, but nearest one advertised is 160 miles away. Will do that if it’s likely to be worth the journey
I think that is all part of the buying fun…road trip to have a look or test ride, take a mate along and get their opinion too.

For anyone that is in the market for one of these.

Why is it not selling?

£159,950

It’s about 10k more than I paid for mine - which is almost identical.

It’s priced about right - should sell in the spring.
This car doesn’t have a Ferrari Warranty due to a previous owner installing after market reversing sensors and unbranded exhaust.

Prices seem to be on the up, especially as stock of good cars is low… Making the 488 look like exceptional value, just a shame it doesn’t sound half as good.

I hadn’t noticed there wasn’t a warranty. It’s also SOR then?

Seems to have dropped 6k this week too.

No HR Owen bought it into stock so I’m told, but the cost to repair doesn’t justify the expense, they’d be looking at a whole new bumper and exhaust…

It’s definitely appealing value wise and finance figures stack up amazingly well on them. I’ve been torn between the 488 and the Huracan Evo. Two totally different beasts but head says 488 and heart says Huracan. That V10 in the Evo adds a sense of theatre the 488 just lacks.

On the plus side for the 488…I fit in a spider which I don’t in the Huracan.

Decisions, decisions

Hi, I’m looking at 458’s and was wondering if there are many differences over its model years, or are they pretty much the same?
Cheers

Thanks, I assumed everything on the Ferrari website came with a 2 year warranty.

Should I be concerned about the shiny leather on the seats ?

Normal on a 13k mileage car, or a haircut ?

Wouldn't worry about a bit of shine on the leather, possibly a sign its been well moisturised! Only surface deep and easily rectified with different leather treatment. I'd be more concerned if it was dry/cracked/worn.

Can't see the drivers bolster but otherwise, no. My race seats look new before a long continental trip and the same as the photo after we get back. They are good as new again following a wipe over with APC and a microfibre cloth. It's likely that someone has been driving in a t shirt or similar - the bolsters pick up a bit of oil from the skin.

it has carbon tips, might be a tacky chinese exhaust but it is just an exhaust, bumper. yeah weird decision to go that route.

Btw, I could not listen the stock exhaust anymore. Imo stock sounds too american v8 below 6k so went with full solution.

Yes there were some differences. As in all cars, the later the year the better.

IIRC there were rue changes up to 2012 for the fire risk.
Late 2012 and from 2013 there were gearbox improvements.
2015 had some minor switchgear changes…oddly, high beam button was reversed.

When I was looking, I went for 2013 onwards. But I would say that as that’s what I bought !

Buy on condition and it’s history. Some cars are hard to sell, some sell instantly.

What’s everyone’s view on 488 depreciation over the next 2-3 years?

I was flirting between a Huracan Evo and a 488 Spider, but having now driven them both, the 488 spider is the car for me.

What I’m trying to determine and model, is what I can expect over the next 2-3 years. I’m used to rolling deposits from one car into the next, underpinned by low depreciation and low interest rates. This combo has made paying down the car more achievable, meaning at year 2 I can typically take a sizeable chunk, if not all, of my deposit back out and move into a new car.

With Ferrari finance being around 10.9% APR on a Lease Purchase w/ Balloon agreement, I’m trying to model out what % of my deposit I can expect to lose after 2 years, so I can provision for the next car.

I feel the huracan Evo will take a larger reduction over the same time period, but it’s based on feel rather than anything scientific. Would love to know everyone else’s thoughts on the 488, and if there’s a way to estimate it out. Thankfully my mathematical ability is not what pays for these lovely cars

I doubt Ferrari figures will be much different so use the Lambo ones for your calculations

Save up and pay for it properly so you don’t have to worry about rates and can therefore enjoy the car properly?
