bizarre really, the 458 is universally acknowledged to be one of the all time greats. just can't see them falling sharply to sub £100k or anything imo
I don't think anyone see's them going to 100k but the low mileage examples which are in the 155-165 range coming down to low 140's and higher mileage in that 110-125k range is what i think is more realistic. Sure they are great sounding cars but the difference between them and a 488 just doesn't make sense currently. Looking back at at 2019-20 pricing, you could of picked up a low sub 15k mileage 458 in the 130's range if not even less than that. The good spec ones with the correct options will always be worth a significant amount over the others which people would be willing to pay a premium for. If prices dont change for the 458, i would most likely go down the route of a 488 which would typically have more variety in colour, spec and better infotainment system.

Looks like another certified pre owned 458 has been reduced now by Jardine today. Was listed for a few months in mid 140's and now at 139k matching with the meridien but 2,000 miles higher.

Been some time since the last post on the thread, but there continues to be price drops with Ferrari dealers on their 458 stock. I have done some inquires and it seems that there isn't that much interest on the cars so I assume there will be a slow gradual drop over the coming months. Hopefully will be able to lock in a deal soon

What is your ideal spec F1z.....?
I'm not too picky. I might be the odd one out who would actually prefer the comfort seats over the carbons as they do give me some lower back pain. Reverse cam would also convenient as I plan to daily drive it but most have the parking sensors which is fine. There's no specific color im looking at so its whatever comes up. I may hold out to see how spider prices do and just roll into one of them if its in that 135-140k range as I am big fan of open roof cars.

My thought process doesn't at all consider re-sale value. I am just purely looking for a car to run the miles up and have no care what its price will be if I ever do sell.

I found stepping i to 458 from f12 actually a bit scary. I was pretty confident in f12 and respected the only real danger on cold/worn rear tyres... rear end can step out at full bore... a long way ...even in Sport, and all in a heart beat as so free revving. But the 458 feels more the race car and tempts you more to dart in and out here and there in places the heavier V12 just did not. Then my insurer telling me 458 much higher crash risk, i get the picture now. A lot more self restraint needed I finding and on more windy roads 458 a total weapon.
Is the F12 a more tame car to handle compared to a 458? I would like to drive daily which would also include a lot of inner city driving and would think the F12 being the larger car that it is more difficult to park, with the long front hard to gauge going down tight roads. I think i have seen more F12's spin out due to the added horsepower to the rear wheels than 458's

Prices have been trending downwards the past month, I have slightly changed thoughts and now looking at 458 spider variants and will lock one of them in the coming few months. Really would hope to get a yellow spider but may end up wrapping it if i choose one that is black or red

But is the 488 market following the same trend…?
Yes it appears both the 458 and 488 have been trending downwards. The expectation really is to see approved pre owned hold somewhere in that 125-130k range and a non approved be sub 120k. Spiders have been coming down slower but to get into one for around 140-145k would be really good. 488's have been sitting for months on AT, some disappear and show back up a week or two later. 488 coupes a few months ago were mostly 160-170k, now can find some approved used at mid 150's.

Also to note which may not be related, is seeing more 458/488 come up for auction on CC. It could be dealers offering very low bids to take the cars so owners wanting to try selling for themselves.

you are right, many cars are mediocre spec with some issues. I was about to pull trigger on 3 cars lately but the prices and conditions of the cars don't match at all. I think the owners are delusional because of the covid era prices
Same thought process is going for me now. Prices for a coupe really are 120k and from a Ferrari dealer at 130-135k now. I have rethought the process and will be going for a spider variant at the 150 range. I know many don't like the 488's but you do really find better colour/spec options so I am also considering a 488 spider also. Not in a rush so will see how things go. I have been tracking all cars complied into a spreadsheet and seeing the drops makes me want to wait to save an additional 10-20k by waiting an extra few months.

This 488 could be a good buy for the OP of this thread at £140k

I did see that blue 488 yesterday but will wait to see the photo's posted up. That dealer does frequently have some interesting stuff but when looking online I am unsure of their reputation/reviews. Anyhow as mentioned, I will most likely go with a spider variant of a 458/488 at that 150-160 range

I may need to scratch the 488 itch soon. Never heard one in real life though.
The sound obviously is not on the same level as a 458 but when it came down to what I wanted, especially with no plans in selling for 5+ years the 488 was the one to go for. I managed to get a good deal, sub 4k mile car with still 2 yrs left on the service contract. I was not planning on getting a low mile car but the price I got it down to made it worthwhile and I dont have to worry about wear on the ceramic disc and other consumables whereas my concern with going the 458 route is potentially seeing maintenance bills soon with the plan of doing heavy miles.

I do agree that the 458 is the better looking car but the updated features on the 488 just make it look a bit more modern and ofcourse the infotainment / Bluetooth music and not having to fiddle around installing an invery through the iPod connector was also a key factor. No garage queen though, come November I am planning on throwing on winter tires and keep it rolling.
