NI, as above, is different on this specific point.
Fair enough, can't be bothered to argue.

Only our 2 F40's, 550, lancia delta and 250 would have failed because of the speedo which is why we went to the trouble of changing them. a right faff,

Just my experiences

They're getting there! The 98 model with 29,000 miles at H&H today has just made £153,296.00 inc fees. And that was in green.

Slightly special case in that it is part of the Richard Colton collection being sold to benefit the RNLI

One can always donate to the RNLI without having to buy a Ferrari wink

Just read the listing for the car- here are a few choice snippets:

  • Aside from some minor denting either side of the offside B-post and assorted stonechips, the 550 Maranello is in good cosmetic order
  • damage to the airbag ECU
  • no record of maintenance between 2004-2014!!!!

£153k for this!?!?! Charity or not, can't see how the buyer can justify that.

Didn't know about ECU. Will need paint to both sides. Belts appear to have last been changed in 2004!!! But the condition of the car showed that the mileage was genuine. He had simply only had it serviced when he used it. Interior and engine bay immaculate. But no way it was worth that money. But I spoke to a couple of traders, both of who would have gone to £100k hammer price.

And I thought it was 'Verde Silverstone' not 'Verde Zeltweg'

The damage to the airbag ECU was mentioned in the auction description but it also stated the replacement part had been ordered and would be included. Verde Zeltweg is the correct colour of this car.

Obviuosly 550 owners necessarily have good taste but the most discerning amongst them know that green is THE colour to have.

Sorry to be contrary, but it clearly is. It took more than one person to achieve the final sale price. Personally I'm delighted!

Amazing prises made today. Don't believe that the proceeds of the 550 were going to the RNLI. Only the sales of the 250 and 275 were. Might be wrong.

This car is £225K. When I titled this thread it was tongue in cheek. But 18 months later it's happened!

Interesting point...if one thought the proceeds were going to charity, would one bid above the market value of an item? I was there and it wasn't clear whether the proceeds of all 5 Colton cars were going to the RNLI. But the packaging of the lots and their location in the room led me to believe they were.

Sorry, can't find the results online. What did the 550 go for?

I bought my 550 in 1999, it was 12 months old, one previous owner who optioned a FHP, and it was UK supplied. Cost me 125K. By 2002 it had dropped to 25K trade. It's my first Ferrari and apart from being a beautiful car to drive, and to look at, it's not going anywhere for sentimental reasons alone. Miles today 25K.

But it will be a big cherry on the top if she's back to anywhere near the money I paid for her. Many thanks.

And to be completely gratuitous, here's two of her siblings. She however remains Queen.

£153k inc fees. Uncertainty as to whether or not it was a 'proceeds to charity' lot. If so would price be inflated?

Thank you. That's a remarkable figure! And I don't believe the 550 sale proceeds went to the RNLI. According to the papers the late Mr Colton's cars - his 250 GT SWB and 275 GTB/4 - fetched 8.53 million combined, enough for two boats. A remarkable man, and legacy.

That is exactly the price I bought my Barchetta for 2 years ago!!! World has gone mad!
