I did a search on this but couldn't find anything so go easy on me if this has been covered before.

I have recently purchased a 612 OTO and I understand the iPod cable in the glove box doesn't charge a device but if I plug a cigar lighter USB charger into the cigar lighter it won't charge. The cigar lighter works and the cigar lighter USB charger works in another car.

Is there a fault or do I just live with fact I can't charge my phone whilst on the hoof?

from experience not all generic USB adaptor plugs will charge an iPhone in a car.

get one that is certified to charge apple devices.

Thanks for your replies. I know the plugs charges my iPhone in another vehicle and I am trying with the ignition on so not sure. I will try some other USB plugs that I have in other cars.

mine is the same really annoying that it does not charge the iphone/ipod in the glove box, I have a iphone 5 so I just leave my old phone plug in there but it dies after a week, considering getting a aux jack put in the middle so I can use my current iphone if possible

Not the fuse as the cigar lighter works as normal. Just the USB connecters don't want to know.

I had this in a 2014 Disco, it worked fine from the USB port, also had it on some other cars and never got to the bottom of it.

iphones and anything apple are buggers if the voltage is not right, if that's any use mine charges fine from the lighter socket. My wifes phone only charges from certain chargers in our house and not on my car charger

On the subject of charging do any owners know how long a 612 is happy to sit without a trickle charge for?

Probably too late but you could always use a Scosche Passport Charging Adapter and an Apple Lightning adapter to charge your iPhone /iPod.

From what I have read on another forum your battery can be weakened enough to give you problems starting within about 3 or 4 days. I don't want to try it so just connect as soon as I get home.

You make it sound like they are built to order and take longer to deliver than a new car !!

Order today receive tomorrow - five minutes to attach the lead and away you go
