The black 550 rhd, 31k mile, a Manual car, only got bid to £84k, am I missing something but were these not super sought after.

Buy it now £ 109250.....or maybe not

With so little moving even the £ 84 before fees (let alone £ 100 inc commission) bid feels too high

The 328 that was withdrawn had an estimate of £ 70-80 which is almost £ 100 inclusive an yet a friend's almost identical car is stuck at the same dealer for £ 65

That's a very good offer in my opinion, despite what some dreamer and speculators might think.

Is the unicorn status of the manual gearbox faltering.....

Have to say the Diablo SV (Yellow) looks absolutely mental, and only £105k bid (£120k all in) what a machine lick

I thought all 550s were manual only?

If it's a 98 car it was probably the same black car I nearly bought in 2013 for £45k but it didn't pass inspection. At the time it was at the higher end of 550 prices (max was around £50k).

It had 16k miles at the time, had stood idle for years and it had quite a few oil leaks and some perished parts.

The market is easing, that's all. If the £89K was the bid before buyer fees, that's still £100K or so to drive it away and that's on the money right now.

I've been on the hunt for a 575M (or maybe a 550 is the right car pops up) since earlier this year. There's simply an unwillingness of many sellers to accept that the market isn't where it was pre Brexit vote. Clean 550s that are the right price sell instantly. 575M's with the F1 box are currently the ugly sister. I'd be quite happy with one of this still.

I went to The Ferriari Centre last month to look at three 550's. They'd all sold that week at screen price which was circa £95K to £99K.

I don't really grasp the idea of buying at auction though. You effectively pay dealer retail price for car with absolutely no dealer facilities and little to no comeback if the car turns out to be a complete Lemon. Added to this that it's not easy for an individual to finance an auction purchase so you're removing quite a lot of your prospective customer base.

I'll see how the market pans out after winter.

I bought my LHD pre brexit, 2 years later headline price was 105k ( for lhd) rhd was c. 130k

6 months Decided to sell via sor, dealer said £89k when everything was at £100k

Sold within 2 weeks for £85k, I thought I had sold it too cheap but 9 months later the lhd cars that had been 100k were 69k and still not selling

At the same time I was offered £150k for my 355 spider ( which I wouldn’t ever sell)

I think headline prices are simply that.

Also isn’t it something like only 50% of cars actually sell at auction ?

My 550 Maranello last weekend. 26,000 miles, UK delivered and with the FHP original spec. I've a few other horses in the stable but she remains #1.

As the last drive-by-cable Ferrari V12 the 550, in my opinion, becomes more desirable with each passing year.

Totally agree Camlet. I also think they get better looking with every passing year. Loved the four years (and 20,000-plus miles) behind the wheel of my Grigio/Bordeaux 550 and wish I hadn't sold it. Not because they've gone up in value (although obviously that's a factor if I want to buy one now) but because of all the wonderful driving days I've missed out on. C'est la vie.

Well said. And per missing out, you're not a proper petrolhead unless you mourn the one that got away! smile

Still one of the greats (I have owned several examples). The only slight caveat is that it did feel slightly unwieldy on twisty roads which showed up the weight but as a fast cross country GT there are few better cars. I preferred the interior of my 550's to my later 575, the 550 had more character with the Jaegar dials, no electronic indicator beeps etc.

Agree with the above, real selling prices have not really moved in three years, many of the same cars dealers have on SOR are still around. Sold my relatively high miles one privately in 2014 and I'm pretty sure it's worth exactly the same, if not slightly less, today. Ignore the crazy pie in the sky prices, very few dealers will actually pay for one outright.

Lovely example Camlet, always enjoy your Instagram posts on it, even amongst your other Ferraris.

Phib what 355 spider is with £150k? I would like to think you are right as I have one, but that seems an awful lot unless delivery miles on it?
