Of course standing is necessary for such a long trip! Do I need to stand up while travelling? No, but then I’m not a dog, for example I don’t go around urinating on lampposts to mark my territory or sniff other humans butts, do you?
Well, the FF drains its tank to reserve every 250 miles so she gets to stand up, pee on lamp posts and sniff groins every three hours. Is that acceptable to you?

Doesn’t matter, I wasn’t in a great mood earlier, as you were.

Apple CarPlay now installed very ably by Brian's Car Sounds of Coulsdon, thanks to ATS21 for the recommendation.

Works perfectly using a Kenwood unit, even steering wheel controls work. Amazing how much it just rounds off the experience of using the car. Especially when you need nav!

Hmm, why are these photos coming out so blurry on PH when they look fine in Preview on my mac?

Great upgrade and something I'm looking in to. Whats a ballpark figure for this to be done?

Compression due to file size I think?

from memory I paid c. 2.5k euros, I have an Alpine unit [so different to the above]. I think the unit was c. 1,1k and the rest was work to take the dash out etc.

Does the new headunit improve the sound quality at all?

I've got the upgraded HI-FI system in mine and the sound quality is woeful, it's hard to believe it was a ~£5k option from new!

Hi everyone,

The unit I used was a Kenwood DMX7520DABS. This was a recommendation from another member in this thread and I'm happy to say that it works great, even the steering wheel buttons work. Yes, sound quality is better than the previous factory 2013 unit Ferrari installed, but if you really want a proper step up in sound quality then you will need to replace speakers and add a sub IMHO.

Best bit was the unit was £300 off ebay. The cheapest I can see on the internet now is £350. Still cheap for what you get.

Fitting was just under £600 inc VAT. Taking apart the FF dash is very complex and I wanted someone to do it who had done it before, hence using Brian's Car Sounds as recommended on here by ATS21.

There are a few snags - the screen needed quite a bit of adjustment to look 'right' in terms of colour balance and contrast etc. The stock background images when not in CarPlay mode are awful, I'm hoping they can be changed. Other than that I'm very happy.

Great info Thankyou.

I’ll look them up and get booked in. For around 1k it’s a great improvement to the overall experience

Nice install, do you have rear seat entertainment in the car?

Just strikes me as one of those options that goes out of date really quickly. Does it run on DVDs or does it connect to phones / ipads?

I don’t think I have ever switched mine on - i don’t even know if it still works after changing the head unit (probably not)
