It needs the wheels balancing and probably a geometry set up. It followed a few of the lorry ruts on the motorway and didn't feel planted over uneven B roads closer to home.
It also needs a decoke on the intake I think. Has anyone got experience of having this done?

Which tyres do you have on it? PZeros tramline like crazy. Michelins eliminate it completely.
Never heard of anyone decoking a Ferrari V12. 4 and 6 pot VAG engines, yes. But never a Ferrari.

Ah yes, it's on Pirellis. I've never been a fan of P Zeroes on previous cars as they've never been as good as the equivalent Michelin or Goodyear. It's a shame to bin them as they've got plenty of tread, but I'll suck it up. I guess it's the K01 variant of the PS4S I require?
I'm not overly concerned as it has the Power 15 warranty until next July covering anything serious. I'm enjoying the drive and I'm sure I'll have perfect for my tastes in short order.

Yes, K1 is the Lusso MPS4S variant so it will be appropriate for the FF.
You might want to consider Conti SportContact 7s. They're available in FF sizes and are beating the MPS4S in all the tyre tests, particularly wet handling. They only give ground to the Michelins on tyre wear and since most Ferrari owners time out their tyres rather than wear out their tyres it isn't really an issue. And if you are putting the miles on the car, then it's also moot as the Contis are much cheaper than the Michelins so the cost per mile is similar.

It appears the ContiSport 7s are available for the fronts, but not in 295/35 for the rears. I’ve had PS4S on other cars and liked how progressive they were so I’ll likely just suck up the cost and go with those, especially given the K1 approval.
The 295/35/20 SC7 are listed on the Conti website but with incomplete details. I suspect that they're slated for release but not in the market yet.The SC7s are definitely better than the MPS4S in the wet but I can't comment about the dry as I can't find either tyre's limits in the dry on public roads. You certainly won't feel cheated by the MPS4S when you ditch the Pirellis. In fact, you'll wonder why you didn't bin the PZeros sooner.
Although there's plenty of tread left on the PZeros, how old are they? You might be able to justify getting rid of them if they're lifed out.

Starting to seriously consider one of these after getting my deposit back on a new 991.2 GTS after seeing the prices.
What is essential spec wise on these? They don't seem as ruinous as I first though or am I being naive?

I've owned both a 991.2 GTS and a 2013 FF. Very very different cars. The 991 would make a great daily, reasonably sized, goes like stink, will return 28mpg so massive range, just does everything well. A bit lacking in character but an exhaust would fix that. The FF is huge, certainly not a car I'd want to drive every day or park in city centres. Think Range Rover big. The FF will give 18mpg on a run but never much more unless you set cruise at 70mph. The FF feels about 3x as luxurious as a 991, the smell of the leather alone is night and day different. The FF feels complex and they are a tiny bit buggy - parking sensors, the occasional warning light that comes and goes, that kind of thing.
The FF has a lot more character. Feels like a £200k+ car. that has its pluses and minuses. I'd say it's more like a Ferrari version of a Bentley. The 991 is a bit of an appliance by comparison but sometimes that's just what you want especially when commuting. The FF is much more of an "event".
Everyone has different tastes but spec wise on an FF I would say clear glass, pano roof, suspension lifter and the right colours (that Rosso Dino above is possibly the wrst colour I've seen). Retrofitting CarPlay transforms the cockpit experience and will set you back about £1k

Who would you recommend for retrofitting CarPlay? I'm interested but Google isn't turning up anyone obvious with experience on these to do the work. The FF is huge, certainly not a car I'd want to drive every day or park in city centres. I have a Taycan as an everyday car so this will certainly be used as a special car although I will do the school run etc in it on occasion.
See I think they look great in red that would be my preference, each to their own I guess.

Never used them myself but Cambridge Car Audio seem to have done a few. So have Audiofile Incar and they make some really nice custom adaptor plates for the double din head units that they fit. (The stock unit is 200mm wide which is wider than double din). Videos of both are on YT.
