Chaps, been doing some work being the wheels on my FF and noticed I may have some rusty CCM bolts. One of the issues highlighted by my pre purchase research on the FF was to look out for rusty bolts on the CCM's. What I couldn't work out however was if people where refering to the small bolts around the face of the disc/rotor, or the two big ones that hold the caliper in place.

Also, how rusty is too rusty? Looking at mine I do have surface rust on some bolts but both look as though they could be easily removed. If I know which ones they are can I simply change them over?
Call SportsItalia near Southampton, they have worked with Hills Engineering to manufacture replacement bolts and avoid the Ferrari approach of replacing the whole disc. They worked it for the Maserati MC Stradale but it works for all Brembo carbons.

FF owner must be the unluckiest in the UK, he’s had issues with Lotus, McLaren and now Ferrari. He’s cursed !

Resurrecting this thread to see people's latest thoughts on the prices of these. There's one on Auto trader at a shade under £90k but it's private sale so have to add in the price of PPI and then warranty.
I'm nervous about buying a car like that privately but the cost differential between that and then all the others starting at £105k makes it look tempting. My man maths is going crazy.
My head is saying be sensible and get the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio I've been ogling, but the opportunity to own a V12 Ferrari is scrambling all my circuitry!

I am stopping going to dealers as they tend to get them cheap and just mark them up - buy cheap, get it checked over by Ferrari ( about 400 Quid) before you buy, then if it has passed the test you can buy a full Ferrarri power warranty - exactly as you would at a main dealer

I went to view one at Ferrari in Nottingham for £108,000 but you do get the 2 years dealer warranty. I just didn't like the colour, and would prefer a panoramic roof, as I know my kids would like that.

Yeah. I've seen that and similar ones, but the finance costs are out of my range sadly. I suppose if I factored in the costs of warrantying the 'cheap' private sale one, and added those costs to my deposit, it might make it more approachable, but the man maths are getting pretty complex then!

Should you be worried if an FF has had 9 owners? or is this something a dealer uses to bid you down if you part ex.

I think that's fairly normal tbh. People get into them, enjoy them for a bit, then realise they're huge, do about 6mpg and cost a fortune when anything goes wrong and hop out into something more sensible. So long as it has full service history with accompanying invoices, and you can get it warrantied, I wouldn't be too worried.

I think the silver FF is my old car, I traded it in earlier this year having enjoyed it for 18 months or so. I'm guessing its been sold / traded in again since but would say that whilst I had it the car was great and a real pleasure to own. Massive bonnet aside which made junctions more of a challenge I couldn't fault it and the noise was magical...

Price wise for 2022 I've no idea. When I bought mine in 2019 I assumed they'd fall further and the opposite was true so were it me I would buy expecting the worst whilst keeping my fingers crossed for the best. Good luck if you go for it.....

Just a couple of new tyres (picked up a nail in one) and a dealer service which included new brake pads - otherwise all good.

What's your opinion on the ff? I'm contemplating one, currently in a Maserati gt 4.7s plus a couple of other dailys.

I have had mine 6 months now. I bought it so as to be able to have something a bit special which was useable for distances for a family of four (I have 911 turbo, which was great for two, but not four, and an e90 M3, which is useable, but not quite special enough…). I have ended up using it as I had planned, very civilised / comfortable for the family to get us somewhere, and then great fun when it’s just me once we have arrived, which has meant it gets a lot more use than the turbo ever has since having kids. If you watch the Chris Harris video, he gets it spot on. What really resonates is the comment about special at any speed, I look forward to every journey in it.

Hello MrG,

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like it could be your old car. I think the sales guy mentioned that the car had been sold twice by Graypaul in the past but didn't mention the timeline.

He did mention thats the car had wanted for nothing mechanically. Did you spend much on it?
It might not be the same car, but I think I enquired on it and the one issue was the brake disc wear reading. When I asked, they said they hadn't weighted them yet which is allegedly the gold standard, but there is certainly a chance there is a £12k bill in the near future unless they have now replaced and that is reflected in the asking price

I had a GT-S MC Shift 4.7. The FF is comparable in practicality, not quite as nice on noise, and a MUCH MUCH better drive, and feels way more special. Plus the crappy stereo is a simple double din so upgradable which is hard in the Maser

BUT it's not a real daily unless you have buckets of cash to spare, I had delusions of it being one but decided it was better to go the "high days and holidays" route and bought a previous model Panamera GTS to thrash daily.

Range anxiety is a thing with the fuel consumption. And as commented, anything at all that goes wrong tends to be £1000

I actually bought the Graypaul car you’re referring to, and the discs were weighed and had good life left in them once that was analysed.

As it got a mention, I also heard via YT comments that my friend's car wound up getting a gearbox rebuild after it was rejected too! £12,500 of work but covered under warranty

Thanks for posting - do you ahve any idea of what caused the need for a rebuild? It's normally the speed sensor which goes but that's a 6-7.5k job so maybe more was involved with your friend's car?
