Am in a similar position, quite tempted - an 812 gts in tdf blue to me would be a very nice thing to have.
However, I have never stepped foot in a ferrari showroom and have no buying history with ferrari whatsoever.
I certainly wouldn't entertain buying something I didn't realy want just to have the privilage to be able to buy something I do, however I understand the business model behind that, but buy the sounds of it these will not be a limited production model or ferrari VIP customers only.
Do you mind me asking which dealership or group you would advise me to talk to (pm me please if you wish).
Nearest to me would be Colchester (Lancaster) or H R Owen in London.
How much deposit would they require roughly and how soon before delivery does the balance of the car need to be paid?
I have never bought a new car before, but this could be a very special 40th birthday present to myself If I was allowed an allocation.
Begging a salesman to take an order does not sit well with me though. . . and I cant fault Lamborghini or Porsche with regards to customer service (pre sale and after sales included - and both these purchases were used models).
What price are these coming in at with a reasonable spec? 300 - 350k or more?

My understanding is that Ferrari is reserving 30% of new regular production models for first time customers.
No buying history should not be an issue if you want a GTS.

I like the car (although find the headlights very challenging), but would have a hard time walking past the blue 550 Barchetta currently for sale to order one of these (and then wait for 2-3 years)

Edit: this is the one I mean https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

I find the rollover hoops quite challenging! Eye of the beholder though (I agree the headlights aren’t a strong point)!

Agree on the rollover hoops - an acquired taste ... as are the hard and soft top solutions ...

I made a call to my local dealer the other day and had a brief discussion about this, and it seems at the moment anyone can put down their 35k deposit (this is minimum) and should likely get one in approx 18 months. I have never bought or stepped foot in a ferrari showroom before.
There was some mention of do you have any other supercars / what do you currently own etc - not sure what he was eluding to (maybe just to rule out timewasters etc) but I have made an appointment during next week to talk about spec and cost etc.
Apparently a good spec car will be 350 - 370k.
Anyone in the trade on here have any thoughts on this car as historically front engined V12 cars used to lose a fortune.
I see the 812 superfast has held it's value well.
Is the 812 GTS special enough not to tank in value over say a 2 or 4 year period?
Thinking TDF Blue with Crema Daytona seats, silver wheels, yellow calipers no exterior carbon but some inside.

Like this but with yellow calipers..

The 550 and 575 versions lost quite a bit of value - was different times though. I think most cars will lose value going forward, I don’t think sth like this will completely tank but at say 350k they are expensive cars in a market saturated with expensive cars, so would expect some drop eventually

I prefer silver calipers with blue cars and no yellow shields (not a big fan of yellow shields on the big cars and on the 812 they look a little lost imo - the painted ones work better as they are bigger)
I think I would get the racing seats (although some find them uncomfortable)
To me to Aluminium interior feels nicer than the carbon (tactility)

Edit: there are currently 4 cars listed on mobile.de with August/September delivery for 560-570k euros so what do I know, that looks like a healthy premium

I’m not sure the SF is holding value that well?
Lots for sale and were quickly available at list or just below.
Wonder what the clearing price would be for the 37 on here?

At the start, it was the same story on ‘availability’, in fact worse as many were told they’d have to buy a Lusso T or similar to stand a chance, which makes the hit harder.

Depreciation tolerance is a personal thing, the big question for me is always liquidity - can you get out even if you decide to take the hit? Not sure that’s the case at the moment - all these V12s are not selling and are mainly on SOR.

Think I’m more likely to go F12 and wait and see, although you can’t argue with an open top Ferrari V12!

Sound advice there footsoldier, will be test driving an 812 on wed, also will get a rough price on a GTS on Wed with spec I want and give myself a good week or so to think it over. If I go for it, it will be the first car I have ever owned from new.
A lot depends on timescales on when I have to pay the balance for the car. And also, numbers made (UK RHD Spec) There might not be that many made if usual punters paying 300k plus for a car are not interested anymore for a multitude of reasons.

Almost exactly the spec of my 812.
A few things to think about IMHO:-
1.I ended up going Sabbia on the interior. It wears better than Crema.
2.Yellow callipers are going out of fashion a bit especially on v12s.I prefer silver callipers but I don't think yellow is a big issue if that is what you prefer.
3.The GTS will have GPF fitted so sound may be a bit different to Superfast.
4.I would be very surprised if GTS did not hold value better than Superfast but in current market most cars will depreciate in first 5 years.GTS is pretty much available to anyone who wants one.
