I don’t like the tone of this thread. It sounds like a lot of rich people saying that other people, who aren’t like them, ie young, shouldn’t be allowed to buy the things that old rich people buy.

What you are actually showing is your age. Every facet of life is YouTubed now. Unboxing this unboxing that, delivery of my new car etc. I don’t necessarily agree with it or like it but it’s part of life. I don’t watch the videos if I don’t want to. The supercar market has changed since whatever period you guys are from. You don’t have to be a millionaire and pay cash to buy these things and you’re all just going to have to accept that or, as one poster says above says, stop engaging in the fast car market.

Oh dear, no need to jump on a soapbox and start telling people how old and/or stupid i am (i’m only 47 by the way), we are all entitled to have an opinion. Perhaps your final sentence is right however, if owning a supercar now requires one to be aggressive and showy then i’m out !

No soapbox, just expressing my opinion as well. Buy your cars enjoy your cars and let others do the same without judgement is all I’m saying.

PS, I didn’t call you stupid either smile

I am probably not much older than those youtoubers/influences. I still can't stand them and they just don't reach the demographic of people that in reality actually buy these cars.. it's just a fact.

That said people spec their cars the way they want, finance them the way they want and use them the way they want. They might just be in for a rude awakening as I think there's just too much supply compared to the amount of people that might actually buy and hold these cars. So might get tricky out there.

That said I still think Ferrari is at the top of their game and (forced move to turbo aside) better than ever. 812 and GT4C are fantastic machines by all counts, usable, fast, engaging. Let them be produced in massive numbers so that there's one for me down the road, but possibly not in baby blue nor red/yellow.

I think you are missing the point , its not an age thing its a type of person thing and the new demographic which most genuine car lovers don't want to associate with, they are there for attention not cars. Now modern supercars don't try and kill you all the time and break bits regularly there is a whole new type of person that can own them, before you had to really want to as well as being pretty mechanically handy and so it was a different character altogether. A general car meet is much friendlier an nicer than the so called supercar meets as it doesn't attract the same sort of people.

I would suspect I'm younger than you think i am, also not far off the you tubers who i know and used to hang out with over 10 years ago, in fact i would go as far as to say i greatly assisted with several of the famous ones careers and so I'm not against them. However they and their market which they fully admit have changed now they think the are cool and in demand. Doesn't make for being enjoyable anymore now its all about money for them and they are feeding an image which is quite frankly terrible for the car scene and driving away the core client base. Maybe it will replace it maybe it won't, but its more likely they will attract more and more attention until it is legislated against and supercars are pretty much outlawed.

If you think the car scene is better now than it was then you have sadly missed on a great time.

Fair enough, I think you’ve explained it in a much clearer way than some on this forum. I’d fall into the category of a young supercar driver so haven’t seen the times you talk of but there is a lot of judgement about these days just because you’re young and in a supercar and I don’t think its all justified.
