Complete lack of driver ability.

Stick your foot down in any car with a decent engine and the rear wheels spin up when you are accelerating. The rear of the car will start to squirm. The rear wheels have lost traction with the road.

If he'd have kept the wheels straight but taken enough of his foot off the throttle to match the wheels with the road the car would have saved him.

But no he effectively put full lock on, at the sime time as taking the foot completely off the throttle such that the poor old rear wheels now had a massive deceleration on them and again could not hang onto the road.

He'll kick himself when he looks back closely at what he did, or he'll just blame the car for its inability to cope with his driving style

Hopefully he will get himself into a skid pad with instruction. That was not even lack of skill, it was pure inexperience and the fears that come attached. All is well tho, he is alive and well, so he gets another shot at going at it hopefully with the experience and skill required.
