Ah, it's an '90s model referance, I'm not into 30 year old aircraft to be fair.

Anyway, back on cars...used the GTS yesterday and it reminded me why I love it so much.

Puts a big smile on my face, and that's what matters. smile

Shall we clear the air….

Firstly, I love cars, been my passion for ever, and I started this thread just because I was excited having just got my 812 GTS.

I know I’m very fortunate to have it, and have had my other stuff including the 812 Superfast.

Having been in this lucky position I honestly think the GTS takes everything the SF is and just adds to it, for me it’s the best car I’ve had.
I dont know who of the folks saying they prefer SF have actually driven a GTS?

I’ve never regarded a big V12 as a sports car, to me that’s the mid engined V8 role, so while I agree the GTS is slightly less intense dynamically, that makes it better to me, and being able to have the roof off and the noise I absolutely adore.

As I acknowledged, I will hold my hand up that the comment about the 812 Comp was partly willy waving, and if that offended anyone I apologise.
It was also founded in the genuine belief that from my experience of both I prefer the GTS over the Coupe, also the Comp it is the first limited edition model I have qualified for so I am very excited, and my Comp is a coupe (as I’m not a big enough dog to qualify for an Aperta) and so I am really torn with what to do with the GTS when the comp arrives.

Lastly, whilst I understood the intention of the G5 comment calling me out (fair enough), I honestly didnt know what a G5 was so it was a genuine question not just being a dick.

Finally….I wish I was skiing, in actual fact the heating in the office is bust and I’m freezing!!

Thanks for the explanation Bertie, none required but I get and appreciate it. We’re all car nuts right? Congrats on the comp, I’m sure it will be a truly awesome car on road or track AND it will appreciate a lot. Sure, some people will say that an 812SF is already way too fast for the road, or if you want a track car it has to be mid engine - hell they might even be right! In the end any Ferrari isn’t just a form of transportation, it’s a lot more emotive than that. Enjoy.

Unless you track cars, will it not always be the case that the cabriolet version of a given sports/GT - car will be the preferable option fro everyday use ?. I can appreciate that looks do play a role but combined with the fact that you can’t really use these super cars and their potential anyway on the public road, the added feature of cruising around with the roof down will always be an additional benefit.

I think the GTS is better as a GT car and the Superfast is better as a ballistic Supercar. Ferrari have set them up quite differently as some criticised the SF as being too focused to be ideal for cruising. The GTS is more softly set up whether by damper settings and maybe the spring rates due to increased weight and less torsional rigidity. Sometimes just removing the roof from a Coupe actually improves the ride as the added weight and less rigidity has the welcome side effect of making it ride better.

Isn't the GTS compromised as a GT by the roof taking up most of the boot space? One of the revelations about my Boxster Spyder has been the amount of luggage space, which has meant we can do some decent length trips in it. I thought that the GTS would be a perfect replacement when I'm ready to swap it. I'd thought that the space was only compromised if the roof was down, but I've read recently that it's the same and small up or down.

Would love to hear it's not true!

Off topic but the guy on the table next to me at Starbucks just before Christmas had just bought a new Gulfstream, having updated his old one. Sounds like a ball ache and I didn’t realise the owner was so involved in making the little decisions. Lovely machines though.
