Rain sensing wipers - quick question

I have a (new to me) Lusso, which has been great. Quick question for other owners - when the rain sensing wipers are set to A1 or A2, do they still operate intermittently, even if there's no rain?

If I set mine to A1 on a dry day, they still wipe every few seconds, so there's effectively no difference between A1 and 1 in those conditions?
