The smart thing would have been to put winters on but availablity is very limited in the sizes required.
Which is basically an excuse for my poor planning and lack of foresight.
I thought global warming had done for icy conditions till January. Stupid really
The MPS4s have so far proven to be capable, even with a little snow on the ground. However it does require very progressive throttle, steering and braking input.
Aggressive throttle input will spin the wheels at low revs and even with a progressive throttle it will spin the wheels when the revs hit 5-6k
So I'm taking a risk, have my fingers crossed, arse twitching and going carefully.
Though Google maps seems to have murderous desire and keeps shortcutting me though un gritted back roads
You may find that winter tyre availability on the continent is much greater than the UK as it's the done thing to swap compared to the UK. If your schedule allows it, you might find a Parisian fitter to make the change. Although I notice that temperatures are set to rise so there's less urgency.Which is basically an excuse for my poor planning and lack of foresight.

From Monday should be fine as you say. Rain unfortunately for the sight seeing. For the moment the 599 is in secure underground parking
It's cold and rainy here in Paris but temp up to 11°C from tomorrow for the next week. I think the weather knew the FIFA world cup result before Argentina lifted the cup.
This morning was mass at Basilica of Sacré Coeur

Change of scenery and off to Genève, my favourite place.
Switched the ignition on and initially saw 27psi on the TPMS. But once the blue check light went out it flicked over to 23psi. Must have a memory function for the last pressure read before the engine switched off. So the leak rate is 1psi per day.
Pumped it up to 34psi on the gauge, TPMS calibration done and it's reading 31psi.
One thing of note is the the cigarette lighter adapter didn't fit very well and required a hard press to make a connection. Pump wasn't too fast building pressure.

Wasn’t sure whether to post this or not but decided on balance better to than not. My mate had a slow puncture on his BMW. When he woke up in hospital with a broken shoulder and ankle he remembered being upside down in his car and somebody cutting his seatbelt to release him. When he got his jacket and other effects from the police a week later, his wallet tucked inside was still damp with petrol.
He had hit a bridge parapet at least 6 feet in the air and destroyed an air compressor set up for roadworks. The tyre had failed at motorway speeds.
Just saying. Drive safely.

Very concerning and much appreciated. I'm glad you posted. He had hit a bridge parapet at least 6 feet in the air and destroyed an air compressor set up for roadworks. The tyre had failed at motorway speeds.

Many Thanks Sardis

You are welcome, I’d hate to think of an accident that could be avoided.
I do appreciate all the advice and comments, can't rely on God and Luck all the time. There's a not Ferrari specialist that a friend in Genève knows well and the mechanic there looks after his V8s, so going to pop in there tomorrow afternoon.

Good. There’s plenty of us on here, including me, that go European touring in the summer but you are one of the very few prepared to head off to the Continent any time of year. Maybe you and Leg should start a YouTube channel.
I have thought about a YouTube channel but the amount of effort and time to do it properly puts me off.My sister is an online social media content editor for a major fashion magazine, sometimes they will shoot for a day and spend another day editing just to make a 3-5 minute video.
I don't want to be spending a few hours re-taking video or cornering shots or editing videos together when I can be in the moment, enjoying the car and the road or enjoying a nice restaurant with friends.
This thread is only takes a few minutes
So had the car cleaned before the next leg to Maranello tomorrow. This is a last minute change of plans inspired by PH
Washed and waxed. Leather treated.
She does scrub up nice.
I wanted to take one of the passes as it's pretty warm but most are still closed
https://alpen-paesse.ch/en/
The one I want is actually open but adds too much time to the trip.
Also had the left rear wheel checked at my friend's place, again inspired by PH
He leaked tested the tyre and confirmed the air is leaking only at the flat spot on the rim. The tyre was rotated 180 with lots of sealant used.
Unfortunately not much else can be done at the moment so probably good I'm not taking any mountain pass as the temptation would be too much

Just completed 600km from Genève to Maranello, via Mt Blanc and Brunate's funicular. According to the TPMS no drop in pressure, all looks good.....

Many thanks to PH, Dominic and Ping
The drive to Mt Blanc was a difficult one. Not so cold, only 9°C leaving Genève down to 5°C at Mt Blanc. But it was the heavy rain and standing water. Could not manage more than 100km without aquaplaning. I was constantly looking for other car tracks to follow or the high spots on the road where the water was lees deep.
Pictures don't really show how heavy the rain was
Once on the other side, the Asota valley was better
And the sun started to come out

Decided to have lunch in Brunate. There's a nice funicular railway from Como to Brunate and beautiful views of lake Como
This is the route Google choose to take me to the funicular.
Looks like a fun road but actually it's an example of Google's murderous intentions
The route actually took us to the top station, I should have looked more closely
The road was so narrow that we actually had to pull the mirrors in and meeting another car was just pure luck that the road had a passing spot nearby.
Once at the top the view was magnificent and the food okay for a tourist trap
