Thanks for all the positive support guys, I know I made the right decision.

A good friend brought me back to Earth with a bang today.

‘You guys complain that you don’t want a car because it has the wrong wheels or stitching colour, the rest of us would just like a Ferrari - any Ferrari.’

Easy to become cynical and forget how lucky we are to be the privileged few who got to own even one of these cars let alone two of the greatest, when we are spending the sort of money that represents someone’s lifetimes of struggle just to buy a house of that value.

I stopped at a McDonalds car park to put the roof up as it was starting to rain, as soon as I pulled in a little girl immediately stopped and pointed and yelled ‘it’s a Ferraaaaaari!’ And was treated to the theatre of the roof going up before it departed.

Priceless moment that transported me to being 5 years old again doing the same thing.

For all our complaints to normal folk these are all incredibly exotic machines and we are lucky beyond measure to have them.
To be honest buddy, it's fine if you're spending around £200k on anything (other than a flat or house) to get EXACTLY what you want and to ask other like-minded individuals about it. But yes, anybody getting the car of their dreams is very lucky.

92 litres @ 2.00 per litre = 184 GBP a tank

20 gallons at 4mpg - 80 miles @ 160 mph

£368 per hour / c. £2.28 per mile.

Round trip to Munich is about 600 miles each way via hook of Holland ferry so 1200 miles - about 2500 quid.

Works out about the same or less as 2 business class flights

Throw in another 2.5k for a Airbnb for a couple of weeks and you'll still have spent less than most people do on a cruise.

Amuses me when people think running a Ferrari is ruinous then spend 10 grand to rent a prison cell sized cabin on a floating butlins for 2 weeks.

You think a F12 is thirsty you want to see the fuel bill on a sunseeker predator to do 32 knots. Costs more in fuel to do Monaco to Amalfi coast than buying a used Ferrari Calfironia and driving it off a cliff when you arrive.
Haha - this is brilliant!

Well a quick update on my F12 buying shenanigans.

Finance deal has been dragged out with a lot of back and forth, which is part;y down to lenders being more risk adverse in the market and party personal circumstances of just having a big house move and lot of contract changeovers making my current financials a lot more volatile than usual, we finally got an offer in from my current funder with the proviso I settle off my 458 balance, doing that and keeping it wasn’t an option as i’m already in the hook for a huge dividend and PAYE tax bill this year to cover my house move so realistically can’t pull another dividend until April without getting bent over on tax, and with bitcoin being at the bottom of a bear market I don’t want to cash out and crystallise losses there.

Harry managed to get me a strong bid on my 458 Spider, which makes a lot of sense to take as I won’t have time to drive it and the F12 this year and it would free up a lot of cash to reduce my tax bill. So sadly the 458 will be going as part of the deal, which
I’m kind of okay with as much as I love the tailor made grigio ferro I had my heart set on a Rosso Spider.

So I’m settling the 458 and putting the money into the F12 which will cut the final, monthly and interest down and put me in a good position to settle it in the next tax year, when i’ll be able to put a chunky amount towards a replacement spider in Rosso when one comes available.

Should imagine we have done enough to get the deal over the line now as current lender will only be effectively relending the same on the F12 but with a higher equity chunk my side.

Just need to wait for the paperwork and collection date now really.

Sad to see my 458 go, but it’s a good business decision and makes the financials work and i’ll get the fun of buying a 458 Spider all over again, but will at least have more time to enjoy the F12 without being distracted by her topless Italian sister hehe

Could have avoided the whole saga and kept my 458 by being patient to next year, but the lure of the V12 has overwhelmed and it was a lot harder finding the right F12 than the 458, which i’m less fussy about and as lovely as my 458 is it wasn’t exactly what I wanted but wouldn’t have sold just to buy a red one, so having my hand forced a bit was probably a good thing.

Will likely grab a 430 spider or R8 V10 spider for cash as a interim topless toy, but leaning into just paring my work right back for rest of year and taking the F12 on some road trips, which is probably a better outcome than having 2 Ferrari’s and no time to drive them due to work commitments.
Great progress - when do you pick her up?

But then I really want a F12.

Will throw another 20k plus in the pot and give them one more go. If they can’t deal on those terms then I’m taking the 458 Spider to Lake Como for a month off and to hell with it.
Can you not just bin Evolution and use C&D? Wouldn't waste my time on who you are using at the moment to be honest, they sound like a bunch of auto-cue reading muppets, which as you say, doesn't really fit with bespoke finance.
Think that could get political as C&D won’t want to get embroiled in a poaching fight with another broker who will want to claim the introducer fee in front of funders who they work hard to build good relationships with.

My original understanding was that we would prop it to Ferrari and if they didn’t want the deal then I would pass it to Mike @ C&D to arrange, but the first nod I got that Evo was involved was a email from Harry to say that they had sent it to them and they already had done the Aldermore hard search before I was able to get Mike on the case, so kind of not happy it got passed to Evo without my authority, can see how DL thought they were being helpful in getting funding, but I never would have agreed to them brokering it.

As it is Evo will have an open proposal with Aldermore (unless they declined due to lack of paperwork) and they shopped it to the other outfit. But the hard search is done and Evo will want to claim the introducer fee on any deal I’m sure, so the only clean exit is to can the deal, let the dust settle and search wear off then have Mike in charge of a new deal on another car so Evo can’t stick their noses in the commission trough.

It’s going to be a damage limitation exercise to preserve my funding relationship for the future here that I’m not responsible for putting a half baked finance app in.

Would leave a very bad taste in my mouth that Evo would get paid anything on this deal because they haven’t justified their commission at all, and C&D really do work for their money not just palm it off to some minimum wage clerk in a Northern call centre body shop.

Kind of surprised DL would even use them as a secondary broker - they are so far off the personal underwriter experience of FFS or JB`in private client management this whole example shows how a supplier can take a wrecking ball to all the work they do in creating a VIP client experience.

Thankfully i’m geographically at the midpoint from Meridien Modena, Carr’s and DL so not tied to them as a local dealer. As much as I would like to keep a decent relationship with them Evo are doing a cracking job of turning what was a very happy experience into a miserable saga I just want to extract myself from PDQ.

Left a voicemail for Harry this morning and waiting for a response. I was actually surprised they didn’t request more documents than they did but their stupid upload system doesn’t allow you to add more than one file and they don’t even give you a contact person to speak to, let alone a courtesy call to walk you through the deal.

Genuinely shocking customer service on a finance deal that’s as much as a family house where their office is.

Sorry for your troubles - this is a complete nightmare. I admire your perseverance, I would have told them to "do one" by now. I'm in Financial Services too, so guard my credit score very carefully, to have somebody tread all over my livelihood because of incompetence would be completely unacceptable to me and a sackable offence as far as I'm concerned.

Good luck though and I hope you manage to get the car of your dreams.

Thanks JL.

Well the saga continues. Got a phone call at shortly before 5pm to tell me the inept broker now wants last year’s tax return as the ‘final hurdle’.

They could have asked for this nearly 3 weeks ago. And I could have got a deal myself out of JBR and done all the paperwork in one shot and got a decision back in 24 hours.

Logged into my HMRC account and my PAYE statement won’t be computed until sometime between June-October.
I had planned to file my SA with my end of year accounts in October but instead I now have to file it this weekend and wait 3 days for HMRC to generate my SA302 - which if we had known at the start could have been done in the weeks they have taken pissing about with document requests.

A good broker would have requested everything at the start knowing exactly what the funder would have asked for.

If I go through all this effort to file early and this broker F’s it up I am genuinely going to go berserk.

The only good thing is if the deal goes south I’ll at least have got my tax return done, can get my company accounts filed earlier and go and get my own finance on another deal with all my paperwork sorted and will have everything I need to get a replacement 458 deal next year with the benefit of my PAYE ‘wage slips’, SA return and company accounts filed.
It'll work out for the best one way or another wink

Sod that. I can honestly say I’ve never checked my credit score or considered it in my entire life be that for any car or mortgage deal.

Never ever live your life giving a fk what some finance wker might think about you!
Sadly, if you work in the sector, you can't do that frown

My personal plate is finally on the car so another round of admin to update insurance company to get it into MiD before weekend and I can finally say it's all done.

Actually chose the plate before the car and very happy to be rid of the billboard length original one off the nose. Opted for a legal 4.4 inch plate to save problems if I get stopped, would look probably better on a 3.9 inch to avoid taking up all the space between the splitter and horse, but this is the smallest legally spaced and sized plate I can get away with.

Trying to decide if I should drop it down a little - although it blocks more of the splitter it would give the horse a bit of black space under it and look less crowded which may look marginally better cosmetically.

Another vote for the Michelin’s. - have driving in torrential rain and they offer incredible grip and when they are above 40 degrees in dry weather they are epic.

Put over 1200 miles on mine since August and the more I drive it the more I am smitten - finally have the measure of it now and it is just an epic epic thing - when you constantly come flying up behind cars on NSL roads and wonder what they are braking for and look down and realise you are going round bends twice the speed of others and the car is barely trying you realise just what a monumental thing it is.

That sir, is one gorgeous car!

Yes. Really enjoying it. After a few months of getting to know the car, I look forward to every drive with excitement. It’s an amazing all rounder. Cruise gently if you want, blast around at warp speed if you want, listen to the V12 symphony at any speed all the time, enjoy the gorgeous cabin, marvel at the timeless design. It’s pretty special. smile
Congrats - sounds like an awesome bit of kit!

Almost a year into my F12 ownership, first proper drive out this year that involved a epic 70 mile cross country blast to tescos to buy some paninis.

Still love it to bits.

Love that story! And that is a gorgeous car!
