My car’s coolant runs very cool, even on warm days, unless stuck in traffic. What are the optimal operating temperatures for oil and water that you guys see?
I pay more attention to the oil temperature gauge. This sits at the first mark up the scale when up to temperature. Out yesterday and it took 20 miles and about 35 mins to reach this temp, however it was about 10 degrees outside, it’s obviously much quicker to warm up in warm weather. The car isn’t driven over 3000rpm until up to temperature; the book recommends a limit of 4000rpm. It usually sits idling for 5-10mins before setting off just to get some heat in the system.
Hope this helps.
