A good friend of mine has asked if I can get a valuation for his Ferrari 308 as he plans to sell it to reduce his collection.

The car is a very rare spec which includes the following>
1976 GTB,UK RHD, Fibreglass body, Dry Sump, V8, Silver paint with red leather and red carpets.

Same owner for 30 years and four previous owners.

Mostly Ferrari SH but due to reduced competence with the classics specialists were used more recently.

The car has non standard Rial 16 inch wheels which are pretty cool but not original.

The car is MOT's and used regularly and could be driven home.

The car would benefit from some work on the metal frames inside the doors and perhaps a respray but not essential.

Valuations welcome but I can see the PH ads myself of course.

£40k.

Leaves £15-20k for frame work, a "reasonable" paint job and the correct wheels and tyres.
Of course if all of the above where in place then as you know it's a £60k + car.
So £40k absolute tops is what I'd pay and you would probably do the same?

More than 40, a lot more.

Is the silver original? Wheels can be changed.

What mileage as that will affect to some extent - if you are aiming for the collector market & money it would need to be shown with the correct wheels and probably through a dealer who can offer whatever work the purchaser requires to meet their idea of what the car should be

It has done 80k miles. I should have menioned that. The silver is original. For what its worth its a decent car and same owner for 30 years speaks volumes.

Out of interst, what do you think it should be priced at? Wat do you think it's market value is once the wheels are changed?

Cheers

I reckon at least half a million
Only joking !
Maybe 10k less than the going rate to reflect work to be done but bearing in mind that the cars at the going rate will not be newly painted
As to what the going rate is I am not sure

Here's a silver vetro with a Zender body kit. You could certainly count that as non-original & it'd be a damn sight more difficult to get back to stock compared to just swapping wheels over. £66K on the ticket.

I see less molested ones are asking 80 & 90K. What they actually get is, of course, another matter.

Mike at Rardley would be a good place to start for valuation and then sale

umm .. the very same website. You have to press your mouse button a few times in the appropriately labelled places, but that's kind of how the interweb works wink

You don't see many of the fibre body cars in the UK for sale. I have one. Took a while to find.

Few more for sale across Europe.

I have heard a number of times that good ones are collectable and will be a good investment.

People who were getting into Dino's as an investment now finding them too toppy in price so are looking at the 308 FB.

Harry M (ex Evo) has one so bound to do well.....

Anyway, I may be completely wrong.

Oh and price wise I have seen ok ones for mid 60's, good ones in 70 to 80k bracket but a few now appearing in Europe for close to or over 100k

Cool. Thanks. Makes mine a very good investment then. What would you value my 39k miles from new, 3 owner Vetro at then?

If mileage can be verified and in good condition and original spec then £75k plus currently

There's certainly similar cars being advertised for that price but whether they are fetching that or not I don't know, A lot of sales don't have the car hitting the general market. Mine didn't for example
