This car was for sale privately when I was looking for one, but I was put off by the 'Cat C'. I understand why people don't mind owning Cat listed cars though.

I thought I’d give a quick update on my situation with the Testarossa.
The car has been with Barkaways over the summer while they have carried out a mixture of replacing routine items such as the clutch and cambelt/tensioners etc and some ‘reconditioning/restoration’ work.
They have been absolutely fantastic and the car has kept very good company! The professionalism of Barkaways is truly exceptional and I could not recommend them enough.
The main reason for my post however is that as the cars age there are going to be issues that begin to become more common. My fuel distributors as part of the Bosh fuel injection system reached the point where they needed reconditioning. The problem manifested itself when one bank no longer ran. Once trailered down to Barkaways they quickly diagnosed the problem.
If you run a Testarossa it might be worth getting the fuel distributors reconditioned and put it down to preventative maintenance. Running a Testarossa on 6 cylinders is not to be recommended!

Thought so, I was there the other weekend and Ian did an oil service on my Rossa. Absolutely loved the pressed wings on your car, never seen one done before, assuming that was not a factory job although it looked OEM. I have known Ian for years and I service all my own cars because I trust no-one , except for the Rossa which I leave to Ian. The attention to detail and level of service beats anything I have ever experienced.
The shields were fitted by Maranello Concessionaires, Egham when the car was new back in the early 90s. Although the wheels are not original they are ‘period’ and with 315s at the rear, traction is never an issue!
It was actually a post you made earlier in the year that led me to Barkaways. Thank God you made the post. The car will never go anywhere else while in my ownership.
I am aiming to get the car to be one of the best in the country that is not a concours car. I have spent ‘quite a lot’ on the car but I am sure it will be worth it.

Good news, glad to be of assistance to both yourself and Ian, my wife and I were there when he first opened the doors and will continue to support someone of this calibre. Hopefully we will bump into each other at some point. My first name is Spencer, so if you mention we have chatted to Tara she will give you the "friends" discount ha ha!!

Yes I saw the LHD car there when I was down last week to see mine. I believe it may have been the one that suffered the same situation with one of the fuel distributors that mine did.
Might be worth discussing with Ian whether yours might need some preventative maintenance? It was quite a coincidence mine went in with the same issue as another one. One day it was running fine and the next only running on one bank. I think both cars were of similar age.
Hopefully we will run into each other soon. I will be attending any events Barkaways attend I can make.

Did your car get wet at some point, left out overnight, jet wash, driven in the rain. If so this can play havoc with the metering system/electronics and the bank goes down. Chris Harris wrote a piece on this recently, take a look.

I noticed his has got an extended steering wheel boss fitted, does anyone else have one? I'd be quite interested in what they're like as it the most annoying thing on the car for me, long arms short legs driving position.
Right....so that's what that was, I thought he had just lost the rubber boot/cover of the steering boss. I am sure it's slightly more ergonomic but not sure about the aesthetics, looks rather industrial.
Looks like that car has been properly gone through both in terms of mechanical and detail wise, needs a Tubi or something similar!
Oh and I now know where the two ash trays are, I have had the car 4 years now and did not they existed.

Glad you enjoyed the vid, I use a universal steering wheel extension available via Demon Tweaks on all of my '70s and '80s Italian cars but I see Hill Engineering do a bespoke Ferrari Testarossa steering wheel extension that allows the horn to still work (unlike on my TR), link here: http://www.hillengineering.co.uk/catalog/sws02b-p-...That was a brilliant vid. It gave you a real taste for what the car is like as opposed to numerous shots of drifting and the like.
As an owner of a later car it was interesting to see the differences to those of the earlier cars, such as the oil filler/dip stick cap. On my ’91 model it is an alloy cap similar to the fuel filler cap.
My car is due back this week after some weeks away having amongst other things the fuel metering units reconditioned just like Harry’s. Hoping mine will run that little bit better!
I noticed on YouTube some comments regarding microphone placement but I think the vid was enhanced by not having the sound too polished. It was just exactly how it would be sitting in the passenger seat having a conversation with the driver.
Perhaps we should have a national Testarossa meet round Harry’s place!!
