Seems cheap, even the 308 GTB at 6£62,675 all in.

The three 308's all sold today. Lot 603 the silver 1981 LHD GTSi sold for £29000. Lot 614 a 1978 308GTB sold for £54500 and Lot 646 a 1978 LHD GTS sold for £52000. I haven't bothered to add the 12.5% buyers fee plus VAT to these prices.
Quite a difference between the GTSi and GTS prices. A 1981 GTSi is the 2 valve model with only 215 bhp I presume.

Was a left hand drive car too which will always drastically affect value I would think?

Robert, as you know there will always be reasons why things are cheap smile

Natalie Bennett, Leader of the Green Party said on Radio 4's Today programme this morning said that as part of their proposed wealth tax in addition to taxing 'mansions' they want to tax pension pots and Ferraris! What do you think that will do to prices? (Nothing probably as they won't get in). Jex

With those sort of policies I very much doubt they'll get in either! Classic cars in general have seen increases in value, not just Ferraris. So anyone that owns any sort of classic car has now just gone out and encouraged all their friends and family not to vote for them!

I already pay £230 for about 1,000 miles a year and although the fuel consumption isn't great (although 20-25 mpg seems pretty reasonable - I have a 328) it doesn't amount to much.

Noticed a few days ago that the respected Hindhead independent, under their 'Latest News' section, has a late 1989 328 GTS, 295 warranted miles, one owner car arriving. Will be interesting to know the price.

Why, why why?

What a waste of a car. Unused by the first owner and will now be bought by someone who really won't be able to use it.

Don't sweat the small stuff. It's only money. Anyone who buys this car would be free to (recommission it and then) drive it like he stole it. At some later date, it may well be the subject of nut and bolt restoration so everyone's a winner surely?

Interesting to read on the R site that "I supplied the car new from Modena Engineering Ltd in August 1989 to two businessmen from Surrey".

If 'they' paid list price for it directly from the dealer, they should be up on the deal (after storage and insurance costs) but would have been far better off putting that cash into a flat in London, early 90's crash notwithstanding! If they paid anywhere close to the apocryphal(?) asking prices of the day c.£250k??, they will have written it off as an investment a long time ago.

I am fascinated by cars like this that pop up from time to time but can't help thinking that they are candidates to be put to the test at auction rather than through a dealer and on the assumption that the usual brokers haven't already been able to find suitable homes for them behind closed doors.

Nonsense. Why would anyone do this when there are plenty of other cars that work properly and for an awful lot less money?

No, sadly this vehicle is going to be an OCD special for someone with collectoritis who will dare not put an extra mile on it. It will forever stay a museum piece.

It'll be interesting to know the price, 10-15k mile cars seem to be around £120-130k now.

So presume the 16600 mile,1989 Rosso 328 GTS that has just appeared for sale at the well known and respected Derbyshire specialist for £110k represents good value, as no doubt, the car will be an excellent example.

Two newly advertised 308s for sale at the popular Hindhead dealer, non red cars which makes a nice change and no doubt will be quickly sold, hopefully to enthusiasts. The very rare 308 GTS QV in metallic blue car looks great and both cars look fantastic.

That blue one does look good, less keen on the silver though.

Nothing like a good fly giallo example though... https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1978-ferrari-3...

Two nice 308 GTS' went through Silverstone's May Sale yesterday; a sympathetically restored red '79 car with 40K, repainted, retrimmed and freshly out of Walkersport's stewardship which sold for £71k hammer price (guide 70 - 80) and my 86K mile '78 car, repainted a couple of years ago, in good mechanical order and looking stunning (if I say so myself) which the hammer went down on at £54k (guide 44-50).

Both honest looking, UK, RHD cars. I'll certainly miss mine.

Just to add to the values list, I sold my silver 1982 Ferrari 308 GTBi the other week. She had 93,000 miles on the clock, fresh cambelts and service, needed a re-trim. There were a few bubbles in the paintwork and the insides of the doors had started to rust. Everything worked on her though.

I sold for £40k which I thought was fair considering it was going to need a bit of money spending on her and I got back nearly double what I paid for her. I'd had her for 18 months and enjoyed every minute as the car never put a foot wrong. She even made it to Lemans and back last year without any dramas. I'll miss her a lot but was a toss up to sell either that or my 355 spider, the 308 had it on the looks but the 355 is still a pretty car and has the performance and noise to go with it.

At least its another one of my dream cars I ticked off the list.

Jonty, maybe you sold too early because there's a wise fellow in the Ardennes who is pitching his wares rather high

http://ww3.autoscout24.fr/classified/271725497

Will he get his €675K or will someone negotiate a bit of a discount I wonder? The Euro has dropped vs the pound of late, so it's clearly a bargain now it's under half a mill wink
