308/328 Values
Discussion
As usual for this time of the year, a good number of 308's and 328 for sale. A couple of 'standout' 328's are currently being advertised at two well known specialists, a one owner car with an amazing 299 miles and the other with 6200 miles. Both are POA and will no doubt attract high asking prices.
Sorry to sound like a killjoy but I do think they are over priced now. Its Testarossa money and you cannot deny it looks better and sounds better.
Having said that in Europe there are now more Testarossas for sale (140ish) than any other classic Ferrari! Could it be people are profiting after years of not being able to exit them!
But what do we all think about the service historys of all these 5000- 20000 mile cars which have apparently not turned a wheel in many years = 25 + years old some of the cars... makes me rather nervous, not least of which you can be sure many have not been properly " recomissioned "

Maybe I was lucky, but I've had no problems. I bought a 328 with 6,000 genuine miles on the clock which had been properly stored for 20 years, having covered all of 500 miles in that time. Apart from routine service items I've replaced the tyres (the originals were rock hard and interesting in the wet, but showed no cracking whatsoever), brake hoses and the clutch. The car has covered 1000 miles a year for the last five years and it drives better and better as time goes on. It has proved a much more reliable proposition than the 35,000 mile 308 it replaced. So, I'd say long periods of inactivity do not always spell trouble. I suspect very few of the low mileage cars for sale really drive well though, as you cannot dispute the best thing for a car is to use it!

Testarossa money? Seriously? I would disgree if you are comparing a like-for-like mileage and conditon car. Testarossas were and still are more money.Having said that in Europe there are now more Testarossas for sale (140ish) than any other classic Ferrari! Looks better and sounds better? Well thats all a matter of opinion isn't it?

And healthy prices paid for the LHD 308GTS QV and 328GTB at yesterdays auction at Duxford, £67K and £61k respectively, both plus fees.
I was offered that 328 last summer at £29k....turned it down because mileage made it a difficult car to sell on....The 308 was a peach of s car. Recent paint, but well executed and all the usual rot areas were very sound indeed.

Why do 308s seem to be much cheaper than 328s? 308 seems more retro desirable to me
I don't know and I completely agree. For example, the 328s have rather nasty microswitches from that mid 80s era of early car electronics whilst the 308s have lovely vintage proper flick and click switchgear.
Maybe there's a notion that the later cars have all the gremlins teased out or are somehow more reliable because they're younger. After 30-40 years neither argument really bears up.
Give it a few more years of patina and the values will almost certainly even up.

I wish I bought an early 308 when I had the chance, just to sit aside the 328 for comparison. I agree the 328 lost some of its interior detail charm when Fiat took over.

Any thoughts on the below- seems like concourse condition but no idea what kind of premium is reasonable to pay for it... £180k is the ask

Is there a buyers guide online somewhere? I need one!
They are pretty simple cars by modern standards and the only thing I would look for is rust, especially in areas not so apparent, such as inside the front wing which you can look through from the door aperture.Mechanically pretty sound cars and if maintained properly over the years quite bulletproof.
Also huge amount of information here http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328-sponsored...
