Hi guys,

As per title, what's the current thinking on 16" tyres for a Mondial/308 era V8?

I know Pirelli are now doing the "period" Cinturato again but given modern tyre tech I'm sure there are several better options out there, can anyone recommend from personal experience?

Thanks

Hi
Plenty of options now...
Depends on planned use. Some options can look very "modern" in tread pattern so also depends whether that is an issue.
For historic rallying on my 308GT4 I currently use either Cinturato P7s or Yokohama AV105. The Pirellis don't look too out of place, but lack performance compared with the Yokos. As you say there are now "proper" (expensive) repro P7s available which are tempting, but no experience yet...

The advantage with the Pirelli P7 from their Collezione range https://www.pirelli.com/tyres/en-ww/car/collection is that is a tyre built to be fitted to a classic car.

I ran Toyos on 16" Superformance rims, transformed the balance and handling of the 308.
