Thanks guys. If location wasn't an issue who would you use?
I need to check what was done at DK engineering in 2017 when it had major work undertaken (the bill was £35k). A lot of that was recommissioning after being in hibernation for years, bodywork/ suspension etc as well as engine out.
I used and continue to use Autofficina. Elias and Peter there really know there stuff on these. Any evidence of Diff work on the invoice for DK?I need to check what was done at DK engineering in 2017 when it had major work undertaken (the bill was £35k). I'd suggest also looking at QV who are in Windsor, they do lots of these.
As for belts on the shelf, I'm not sure how to track that other than buying off someone who has a good turnover of them. It isn't the kind of bit to buy off eBay!
Just for clarity, the diff doesn't fail due to lack of maintenance but due to dodgy welding. As YellowTR says, it is a part that goes back right to the 365 BB.

Thanks guys ... its now booked in with Carrs Ferrari Exeter.
I would be interested in some feedback with Carrs as my QV will be due its first service in January. I hear they do a few of the classics as no indie in the South West that I'm aware of. I've been using Exeter Porsche (also Carrs) for years and always found them to be goodbrowngt3 said:

I've used them for years too on my 599 and Maserati before. Always happy with the service and price. I asked them whether they had much experience with older Ferraris and this is what Mark said.We are just doing a 512TR and that car has done 60 miles since the last cam belt change 3 years ago We are probably one of the most recognized main Ferrari dealers in the UK too look after the older cars as we have three technician that have been with us for more then 15 years... and one technician that has been here for 25 years.

That's encouraging, thanks. I think it's always good to build a relationship with the technicians too. At least the 308 is relatively simple. Not so easy nowadays just to pop in and have a look round thanks to Covid We are just doing a 512TR and that car has done 60 miles since the last cam belt change 3 years ago We are probably one of the most recognized main Ferrari dealers in the UK too look after the older cars as we have three technician that have been with us for more then 15 years... and one technician that has been here for 25 years.

Thanks for the update, Tony. Useful to know
Also a fan of Carrs Exeter. Customer service all round is excellent, and unlike a lot of dealerships they have a real interest and appreciation in the older tipos, even ones that aren’t especially valuable. Their lead mechanic, Harvey, is incredibly expert (believe he was ranked number one in Europe in some Ferrari evaluation) and likes working on the older cars so isn’t averse to waiving some hours if something really takes ages to get right. Can recommend. Here's a nice comparison of the three generations. It has to be the original for me..

Hi All,
I realiseI am late to this thread - but just a quick FYI. I use Carrs of Exeter for my 550 and they are excellent. The car has always been serviced there and I live in the Cotswolds.
Late last year, I viewed a Very neglected / Way ££ over priced / left outside in all weathers, blue, Maserati 4200 in Exeter. The old boy seller, also had a red Testarossa ( along side a red E Type V-12 roadster ) he told us, that he had used Carr’s. I realiseI am late to this thread - but just a quick FYI. [quote=Jonny TVR]Clocked up a couple of hundred miles now and absolutely love it. Last night went for an hours drive in "Tyro the testarossa" just for the hell of it.
Wow!! pics confirm what everyone already knows...that the Testarossa is a true bedroom wall classic, location spot on! interested to know where that abandoned runway is?
