Thanks AmoCS.

That was an interesting read this morning.

Yes, I reckon it is a photoshop, the lines don't seem to match up to the naked eye... but could be wrong.

FYI - I did my 512tr after 5 years, and the belts looked good as new.

Thanks. Outside of the '5 year Cam Belt' service, what other services are required annually or outside of the 'Cam Belt' service?

Not the same car but possibly worth following up..I have bought two 512 Boxers in the past, both through Mike Wheeler at Rardley Motors, and neither were advertised for sale at the time. He was excellent at sourcing the cars and to deal with. Well worth giving him a call.

I note there's a Testarossa coming up at the H&H online auction next week: https://www.handh.co.uk/auction/lot/-1990-ferrari-...

No affiliation etc.

Thanks JTremlett.

I’m struggling with prices at the moment.

I had one guy tell me today who has bought and sold quite a few over the years, that I shouldn’t be paying anymore than £95k for a clean example, however most clean examples are well over £120k.

I’m definitely not looking to buy the cheapest one, but like anyone I want to buy a sensible car too.

As far as I can see it ought to be possible to buy a clean car for that kind of figure. They shot up and then I believe the market softened a bit. I think also there were quite a few LHD cars sucked into the UK market by the strength of sterling but if anything things have levelled out as sterling has weakened.
These are just observations from an owner, though, I bought my car about five years ago so not much direct experience of actual transactions, just my take on things.

If you get a good one it is hard to match, mine has a sporty exhaust and sounds fab and of course it looks like nothing else.

He's right. Sellers can ask what they want. Doesn't mean you have to pay it. The auction car I pointed out may give an idea of what buyers are really prepared to pay, assuming it sells.

Yes, is there anyway to see what they go for at the likes of Historics?

Most auction houses selling these cars have live feeds and/or post auction results - they are public auctions so anyone can register and bid

Yes, all the auction sites I am aware of show past auction results. However, most don't show the high bid for lots that don't sell so you'd probably need to follow the auction to see that. It is also worth noting that in a normal auction the high bid may not be a genuine bidder but rather the auctioneer trying to move the bidding up to the reserve. That probably shouldn't be the case in an online auction but I wouldn't guarantee it.

How many of these cars have genuine mileages, do we reckon?

They seemed to have the same sort of mileages showing 15 or 20 years ago.

Exactly. Easy to disconnect the speedo on an eighties car.

I guess a frequently serviced and documented service history from a reputable service centre is the only way to justify the reading.

... and the usual tell tale signs of the seat wear.

I would second this. I also have two from Mike but only one was a Boxer!
