Cursory look at eBay shows RHD 348s ranging from £45k - 60k and 355s from £75 - 90k (ignoring obvious overpricing) so I reckon about £25k - 30k more would get you an equivalent condition 355.

Mid £55k - £70k would get you a decent 360.

I think a lot depends on the type of owner you are and how much you intend to use it. I like to do all the work on my 348 myself and like to drive it plenty too which if I was paying a garage to service and fix it for me would not be feasible.

Give careful consideration before choosing - if you'll be paying someone to work on it for you or you want to use it more than once a week for a Sunday pub lunch then go for a later car such as a 360 onwards - if you love tinkering and DIY then 308, 328, 348 and 355 are all well supported by forums with technical help - a big part of the fun of ownership IMO

BTW Mines got a Capristo and I love it :-)

Your on the ball with those numbers.

Precats in the 360 kill some of the mechanical noises.

Your car must sound pretty sweet 348jeff. Which capristo is it ?

Its the "sound 1" IIRC. combined with Ferraris own decat pipes

Just for a little info direct from Capristo themselves...

The Capristo exhaust comes in two varieties, one with valves and one
without. The one without valves comes in sound 1,2 and 3 of which 3 is the
loudest possible and most popular version.

Sound 1: ca. 10 dBA louder than OEM
Sound 2: ca. 18 dBA louder than OEM
Sound 3: generates typical Ferrari F1 sound

Now the key thing to note is that despite the volume levels, all 3 of these
exhausts generate that fantastic Capristo tonal quality. Building up from a
deep growl on startup, rising in pitch to a fantastic formula 1-esque scream
as you rise through the revs, the Capristo is second to none when it comes
to sound!

There is no compromise with build quality either - each Capristo exhaust is
carefully made to order - it's not a production line. They are all made of
the finest quality T309 Stainless Steel - the highest grade you will find in
the sports exhaust market.

However where the real magic lies is within the fourth option, the Capristo
exhaust with remote control sound level operation. It has the same sound as
the level 3 exhaust, but this time the volume level is controllable via a
wireless remote control you can fit anywhere (most of our customers keep it
on their key chain). Through use of this, it becomes possible to have a
fantastic exhaust that gives the car the sound it feels like it should have.
You can start up subtely as you pull away from your drive, or on long
motorway journeys when you want a less invasive sounds, but still open it up
to its full potential when you choose to - it's very impressive!

No pre-cats in 360’s unless it’s a USA car.

Just thinking, would the 348 have suffered the same fate as the 964 ?
Not so well received at its time, then heavily overshadowed when their respective replacements were launched.
Used values plummeted, resulting in neglect, until recent times.
So current crop on the market needing big spend on restoration work ?

I don't know if that correlation really exists, but there are undoubtedly some crap 348s out there - I saw them when I was looking for mine.

I suspect there are some crap 360s too though, the oldest are already over 20 years old.

Davek_k964 is right, there are a few dogs out there. Remember some 348s are 30+ years old now.
I bought Daves 8 years ago and it was a really good one, but even thats had work... full suspension, new pipes fuel pipes, starter moter, new rads, new oil rad, cam chain+ bearing, sills, new Tubi exhaust, aiircon overhaul..the sticky dash saga they all have..to name a few. Admittedly its taken it to another level mechanically but shows that some of this should really have been done on other models by now or is due. Get on top of all this and youll have years of fun. New bushes transforms it. Reliability its never missed a beat and is no garage queen. If you can pick out the best ones, its worth a ppi if you can. Even a 360 will have jobs to do as theyre 20 years old. Its what you prefer. 360 is great, i just prefer old school, go kart like feel.

In theory Super Unleaded which both prefer should be staying as E5 - as I understand Ferrari has yet to advise for E10 in pre 2005 cars

According to the Government website, after E10 becomes the norm for standard unleaded, E5 super unleaded fuel should still be available at garages that sell more than one grade of petrol.

From the Government website ( https://check-vehicle-compatibility-e10-petrol.ser... ):

Ferrari

All models since model year 2005 are suitable for use with E10.

If in doubt, consult your dealer, the manual or the inside of the filler flap.

All models before model year 2005 should continue to use E5 petrol.

E10 compatible models after model year 2005:

599 GTB Fiorano
599 GTO
612 Scaglietti from model year 2005
612 Sessanta
SA Aperta
California
458 Italia
458 Spider
458 Speciale
FF
F12
LaFerrari

Personally, I wouldn't run any Ferrari on standard unleaded (E5 or E10) - Even a post 2005 model.

For me, It's always got to be super unleaded - Nothing but the best! cool
