why don't you re-register it in your name? DVLA will write to her at your address to give her a chance to dispute the change. If she doesn't respond they'll register it to you.
or just transfer ownership? - all correspondence will come to you / her at your address anyway so you can 'approve' anything you want smile

Did OP state of he is in possession of the V5?

That's not the issue, proof of ownership is not in dispute here.
As has been agreed the registered keeper is not the same as the owner, the log book or V5 makes that clear.

For those who want to understand the law in terms of the police - they will do nothing if there is any question whatsoever that the car is 100pct yours.

The v5 is enough for them to not act it then becomes civil. It is registered at my house on the v5 but not my name.

Whether you have made every payment, paid the deposit, the insurance the servicing the maintanence, whether the proof of purchase receipt is in your name it is is irrelevant to the police.
not what the police say....

also very odd is the craig bit..... you were business partners? car actually paid by the company? why then put her name on the v5.... simply asking for trouble if not married....

Sounds like when parents buy cars for their kids and put themselves as the main driver for the insurance, when they're clearly not......google 'fronting'.....

Indeed it is.

Hope the OP and his ex can sort this out amicably. Would be a nightmare for a new owner to deal with this after purchasing it thinking all was well.

Not really that cheap, I sold my year newer one with half the mileage for only £3000 more.

^^ this ^^ very simple really, get the guy to take a test drive or at least have a look in it and fire it up and as soon as he gets the keys you appear and he hands them back to you, I would also get as many people to go with you as possible so there are no later complaints of foul play.

Get the finance on the OHs name but you made the payments? Works fine as long as you are together but separate and st like what is described in this thread happens.
