From 911 Turbo to Gallardo!?
Discussion
to all potential buyers....... it is the state of the car and its upkeep that is paramount......
stamps in a book mean diddly squat...... did any advisories get authorised??? was any extra work needed done. you can get an annual service done only and get the book stamped...... and haircuts can occur before any service, so its not a proof of mileage......
Andrew, have to disagree.... one trip on track can boil and damage brake fluid, so specified intervals are meaningless, most condition based cars have a 2 year service interval now... all depends on mileage and how driven.... given the factory state 7500 miles between, cant see how time makes that much of a diff as long as it is defo within 2 years....
ps. most oils are fully synthetic and long life now.... sure, in the era of mineral oils, 1 year would be right..... and if you live near the red line, 1 year is too long even if you did low miles... complex heh....

well done and congratulations! Yes pics please!!!
i am interested to see how you get on with the Lambo from the 911, I am still thinking of doing this in a year or so, or possibly a 430...running costs on both are still scaring me a little though!
Budget a couple grand per year. One year it might just be a service that’s needed at say £800 (don't quote me exactly but it can be done at specialists for that) then the next year it might be £4K if it needs tyres, brakes & a service. i am interested to see how you get on with the Lambo from the 911, I am still thinking of doing this in a year or so, or possibly a 430...running costs on both are still scaring me a little though!
The thing to try and remember is that if you go and buy a brand new say BMW M3 or similar it's going to lose that in depreciation anyway! Man maths are a great thing

Link to a pic of my new lambo.
Now done 300 miles in the car, I can report that I have been photographed constantly in town, appeared on Facebook chats, had people wanting pics with the car etc feel like a celebrity in it haha it was in fact owned by Richard Hammond!!
I have driven the car in anger and totally loved the sound and presence however it just does not compare with the turbo's performance and handling, I have found myself backing of for the overtakes that would have been a breeze for the porker, bends are more hectic and parking is a nightmare! Daren't leave it unattended.
I think that anyone thinking of going from the turbo to a gallardo needs to be ready for less performance but far more fun! The turbo is so capable, it got almost a bore to drive daily because there wasn't the excitement of the exotic cars that it will outperform.
I would NEVER buy an M3, to be tarnished by the rep mobile brush, every BMW I seem to come across is driven by the rep who's now managed to get out if his old Mondeo and move up to the 318 with m sport badges, really hasn't done much for the brand.
I searched round the country for my car, took loads of advice and can only pass on what I learnt, make sure you get a stamp for every year, tyres got to be good, recent clutch or get a reading, buy the best example you can afford.
In summary.
THIS IS MY FIRST LAMBO BUT DEF NOT MY LAST!!!
