LP570-4 is set to become the new CS and you heard it here first
Surely that's an old ad? Pete left Lambo ages ago.

Not sure about that link either as 962 of them start at 1994 :>

That site is not definitive but it says there are two Gallardo STS's in the UK. I think that is fairly accurate unless they are locked away somewhere and never driven. Only one UK car appears to have been photographed in the UK thus far, possible more have slipped through in Q4.

Anyway, pinch of salt (as with anything on the net).

Here is your second one! Via Mr Penfold, of course, back in 2012.

Think so. There's only one in that colour in the UK and it sold recently.

I am amazed that some of you think so little of the 458.
That is one hell of a machine and technically better than the lambo. Possibly one of the only super cars to rival Porsche on the track.

Ive always been a Porsche guy although have had both Ferrari and Lamborghini and although the Ferrari and Lamborghini grab more attention and a better enjoyment, there is something special about the drive of the Porsche and having spoken to many serious drivers, they have tended to say the same up until the point they drove the 458 and that changed everything. Its a super car in every sense of the word, a true feat of engenearing.

Agree 458 is technically better but it just isn't as much FUN. Just like the MP4 12C is faster and probably more competent than a 458 but lacks something. I know its subjective and not objective but the Lambo makes you want to get up early on a sunday am and always puts a smile on your face.

If it was a daily driver I have said I would take a 458 over the LP570-4 Performante but as a weekender its no contest. Lambo every time

Funny that not one press review has said this. The 458 is miles ahead of the Gallardo and is an epic car. I'm afraid I don't think you're right.

I think that quite a lot of post purchase rationalisation is going on here. I've seen you say this about 20 times on any thread you can fit it into - 'thou doth protest too much, methinks'.

Just say you bought your car because you liked it. Fine. Don't have to try and knock other cars to prove a point, especially when they are as brilliant as a 458. Relax, enjoy your car, you don't have to prove to anyone that you made a good decision, only you know that.

I think I know what he means.

I remember as a boy wanting a Porsche. When I managed to save up and buy one I was in heaven. I loved it and looked at it with pride. It didn't attract too much attention and I could park it everywhere.
I loved it.

When I got the Ferrari I was extacic although it certainly wasn't an everyday car like the Porsche.
It attracted huge attention and I was surprised at how many woman actually commented on how beautiful lot was. I got treated totally differently than I had been with the Porsche. Doors opened with the Ferrari. People treated me differently from allowing me through at lights to letting me out of side roads etc.
I was even given a free meal and chips at a local casino which had never happened before.
I loved that car.

Now I have a lambo and the comments I get are Oh My God !
I am
Amazed at how many people want to take pics of the car. I'm Yet to get a negative comment and although I have not done many miles, the drive is very planted and "Audi like" which is a pleasant surprise.
I feel that I could do a midlands to London trip and feel comfortable at the end which is nice for this type of car.
It is without doubt the most attention grabbing car of the three and my kids love it. I love it and am over the moon it's in my garage.

I work with supercars daily so I'm around these all the time and often see how people treat owners and how others look up to one day owning or even driving one.
I think that the reality is that no matter what we have, wether it be a Porsche lambo Ferrari Aston etc etc we should try not to forget how lucky we are. Could any of us have imagined at 12 years old that one day we would own or drive one of these ?

They are all special wether it's the one we have or not. I'd settle for any of them smile

So, if your idea of fun is pleasing a gathered crowd then a Gallardo gets the vote. If it is about the driving then I'm afraid it doesn't.

With respect (because I do firmly agree that all these cars are great and owning any of them is a privilege and respect you for saying it) a drive that is 'Audi-like' is probably not helping the 'Lambo is more fun than a 458' argument.

This chap has a Performante which is indeed quite a special Lambo. To argue it is more fun than a 458 is a highly subjective thing; after all, who can argue what one person finds more fun than another? It is misleading though. To try and say you will have less fun in a 458 is also very misleading, unless being photographed is your thing. The facts are that a 458 is a brilliant, game changing car. And although I don't own one, those I know who do absolutely love them. After driving literally thousands of miles with them, I know they have plenty plenty fun and rave about the car.

I have a friend who has had two 458s and recently bought an Aventador Anniversary. The thing is a monster but he has kept the 458 because he is not sure if the Lambo will stay. His conclusion? Very powerful, not very precise, not very sophisticated and the gearbox is a pig. Will he have more fun in the Lambo? He's quite unsure about that at the moment.

If that was aimed at me I think you missed my point.
I'm a 458 fan. It's a game changed in the supercar market. My Ferrari comment was aimed at the ones I owned (should of been more clear on that point) as I owned 360 and 430)
The 458 is in a different league to other cars Ferrari have made.

No, it was aimed at the chap you quoted, who keeps on and on about the same point. "I bought a LP 570-4 Performante because a 458 is a better car but the Lambo is more FUN". It gets a bit tiring after a while.

Edit: apologies, I quoted him, but you responded to my comment about his (frequently repeated) quote.

Gee you need to chill out man or just go and buy a Gallardo FFS.

No one has dished the 458, I think its a great car but IMHO, and yes I'm allowed one as well, it is definitely fun but not as much as the full roof down experience of a Performante. Go drive one back to back with a 458 and then you might understand what I am saying. Its not just about outright speed or technical ability.

A few people on here who have more supercars and more money than I can ever dream of have said you cannot beat a Performante for sheer excitement and sense of occasion.

I appreciate both the McLaren and 458 for what they are and I've always been a Ferrari fan / owner ( F355 GTS manual with capristo is a keeper, F430 spider replaced with lambo )but having a foot in both camps I find it hard to believe that so many Ferrari people are so anti Lamborghini and try to knock the car.( envy / jealousy / brand snobbery ? )

Gallardo was game changing at its launch and gave the 360 a proper spanking, LP models did the same to F430 and TBH I think anything newer nowadays whilst being faster and technically better has lost that "edge" and sense of fun at sane speeds on public roads.

I've already said my next car will probably be the next evolution of a lightweight 458 spider as that should add some fun to events

Remembered something a dealer said to me. At the Xmas Car Club party the Ferrari owners were talking stock and horsepower whilst comparing watches at the bar. The Lambo owners were doing coke in the wc and jumping in the pool with the bar staff. Horses for courses and all that. Fun is subjective as well ...

I'm lucky enough to have circa £160k to spend on a summer toy and currently looking at the likes of 458, MP4 12C, Scuderia/ 16M and Superleggera/Performante.

Sadly I have already pretty much ruled out my boyhood dream of a Challenge Stradale after being bitterly disappointed with the car ( Awesome sound but apart from that I guess its showing its age versus some of the more modern competition ).

More test drives booked this week so will reveal my thoughts by the weekend. Hopefully the weather will hold up up here

With a "spare" 160k I would buy the 458 although the McLaren looks amazing and drives so well.
Ive been working on the McLaren for a while now and its such a nice car.

Seriously what a load of bolix! You have such a 'fixated' (and a very narrow one at that) view on the world. Sheer excitement, a Arial Atom V8 would blow this into the weeds / sense of occasion A Rolls Royce Silver Ghost would stop it in it's tracks...

Point is "excitement and sense of occasion" are completely subjective and to say your Lambo rules outright does not hold water...
