We'll the car was about £210k new a year ago, GRB paid £160k (?) for one in October, now they are £145k offered ( so can deal at £140k?) now. And there are 5 currently for sale. So £120k next year looks about right to me. I guess that's where the current dealer bid is.

One shouldn't assUMe ( it makes an ass out of U and not Me ). The car may have been up for £160k but I certainly didn't pay that for it being in the trade. Cap and Glasses prices which are only an indication and trend show that October was when the price bottomed out and ever since they have been on the UP and will continue to do so as we approach spring/summer. If I wanted to trade my car, and lets make it perfectly clear I DONT I could easily return what I paid for it
Also if you want to quote figures please get your facts correct - there might be 5 Performantes up for sale but only 2 are Edizione Tecnica which importantly have the carbon ceramic brakes ( £10k upgrade )

Morning people,
been following this thread for a while now as practically on the verge of chopping in the porker for a gallardo.
If I may bring the subject matter back to depreciation, what's say a 80k 07 gallardo going to be worth in 3/5 years time?
If you take it the same as say a 04/05 That would say its around 60k, but surely these 04/05 cars can't go down much more which should hold the later cars values would it not??
I don't fancy taking a 20k hit on a second hand car in 2/3/4 years, what's the genaral opinion ?
Cheers

I would personally budget for a 20k loss in 2/3 years, whilst I agree that early Gallardo's won't drop below 50/60 you have to take into account the 'trade' v 'retail' value of these types of cars . Even early cars will have a 10k+ margin. been following this thread for a while now as practically on the verge of chopping in the porker for a gallardo.

Then buy an early car, you have answered your own question kind of.
Others will confirm but in 08 I think it was a gallardo could be bought for 50k !!
I guess they will go there again which would mean 65 ish for one like you describe.
I would love them to drop more but not looking likely anytime soon.

Do you guys generally find number of previous owners off-putting? -That one mentioned above has 7 previous owners! I'd hate to be trying to sell that on to owner number 9!
a 2013 car with 7 owners?eta

£60k does seem to be the bottom line figure for a straight Gallardo, and has been for about 18 months now.

Agree if you don't want to lose money an early Gallardo is the way to go. £60k does seem to be the bottom line figure for a straight Gallardo, and has been for about 18 months now.
Because everyone looks at it as cheapish entry into a SUPERCAR there is strong demand at the bottom end of the market.
At worst you will lose the Retail v trade margin but a lot of these cars are seemingly going up so you could even negate that and breakeven in 2/3 years time. Who knows !
Some top end supercars ( eg Porsche GT3RS, Scuderia )are seemingly appreciating up to £30k a season and that's pulling up the bottom end
I get what people are saying about buying an earlier model, firstly I want a spyder anyway and secondly the 07/08 models had improvements did they not?
I just can't see how if the 04/05 cars are holding 60k, how can a later model be worth the same money even in few years, but that maths the early cars would be sub 40k, would that be right for a straight car ?

Red ones are not only the fastest and loudest but the quickest appreciating ones to, but don't tell everyone.hth
Mind you I saw this ad and had to laugh. For a minute I thought I had lost nearly as much as everyone was telling me I would in 12 months time lol

In the scheme of things it is peanuts either way. Plenty of smarter choices for your money

yes, continued improvements year on year, minor at times, call them tweaks, often related to reliability...I just can't see how if the 04/05 cars are holding 60k, how can a later model be worth the same money even in few years, but that maths the early cars would be sub 40k, would that be right for a straight car ?
the prices bottom out as they become affordable to a greater number of people... demand>supply.....
