Hi all
Title is tongue in cheek really...... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Anyway, 2 months ago I sold my pre facelift gallardo after two and a half years, having initially aimed to flip after one summer. A great experience that was, and there seemed to be a hole in my life, actually, our lives, as the family missed her too, once she was gone.
However, time to move on as they say, so off I went to look at something else. Had a brief spin in a 2014 GTR... Untouchable as a daily driver IMHO, and launch control was like a rollercoaster ride. But, I didn't want a daily driver, I wanted a toy, something that hit all the right spots.
Did try to get into an early huracan, but with no luck there unsurprisingly.
Sorry, but brand Ferrari does nowt for me, the cars are lovely, but the brand... And I've never been a porker fan, I know they are good, when they are not trying to barbeque you, but whatever I bought had to arouse with looks alone...the v12s was very very nice, but too much new... The list is then endless with diversity from a 1m coupe and sagaris to a SLS....
But I couldn't stop checking the gallardo classifieds.... Its a good looking car, that has aged well.... That v10, even on a standard exhaust, what an engine... Torque, power, free spinning, the noise... V8 barble like below 4k then pure f1 (ex), it always put a massive smile on my face whether being washed or driven, and it was not even my dream car.... So another gallardo it had to be then...
Now, modern cars are just too fast....too easy to drive, Kim kardi ran a 458 as a dd ffs.. That's another reason to ignore the gtr/458/12c/991 gt3.... I wanted fun at slower speeds, more involvement, to feel scared/excited/in control rather than purely concentrating on lines and brake points at crazy speeds.... So I decided to look for a 2wd gallardo... Balboni or 550-2..... Didn't mind egear tbh, its not that bad IMO and gives the wife a chance to drive in auto mode... And had to be bright... White gets too dirty too quickly, and is so common at the moment, black hides the lines... Or a superleggera as the interior is to die for and the rear spoiler...
So, y'day I bagged a 2wd gallardo in lime green with a rear spoiler and alcantara interior.... Perfect spec tbh.... A lp560-2 50th anniversary, brand new, unregistered.... Thanks lambo London.... The only lime green one worldwide...guaranteed future classic as GRB would say...

Hi Craig... The orange superleggera sold and was already gone... I went dealer and service centre.... Tbh it was going to be one of the two y'day....
Aware the 550 is twitchy... My test drive was in the pouring rain and I got the car wobbling in a straight line.... Raw speed didn't interest me, I'm sure I'll have plenty of fun going slower.... Not read or seen one bad review from any journo re the 2wd gallardo, in fact most agree with valentino

Twitchy = fun, I can imagine that being a very involved and aural drive in the wet

congratulations. good to see someone at last taking gbh's perspicacious advice : just a shame it's not resale red
Always on hand for discerning advice on any supercar, I'm not biased. Classic Lambo colour that I actually love but probably only on someone elses car as I'm not brave enough myself Edited by GRBF430F1 on Sunday 25th May 11:51
Cheers all... Evo iv its a major mash up of the gen 1 SL and the 550-2..... Had a shout on a white one, and it did look good, but my 250cup is white and always getting dirty, and oddly plain when dirty but stunning when clean... Would have considered a gen 1 SL but no bright ones came up and are unlikely to...
