Went from 997 turbo s to a LP560-2
no comparison between the two cars as a driving experience. Although the PDK is smooth, quick, crispin the porsche its a bit boring IMHO! EGEAR is a mans gearbox, get it wrong and you will get a nice large thump to the back of the head.. but get it right lift off slightly and treat it like a manual gearbox its very rewarding.
My car is a 2014 and the EGEAR has been improved since 2006, try a LP model car and you wont be disappointed.
The one thing you might not like though is the brakes, at first gallardo brakes feel over assisted especially if you've come from Porsche carbons but you quickly get used to it and they work as good but the initial feel takes a bit of getting used too.

Picked up my new to me LP550-2 yesterday and drove 250 miles via North Wales back home, admittedly in rather damp conditions.
Build quality and materials are quite definitely superior to the 997 and earlier Porsches I've owned with completely rattle free solid and beautifully trimmed cabin and the only noises other than 5.2l N/A Lamborghini V10 coming from the car were from the very good stereo.
Early days but I found it rapid, agile and responsive on the drive back. Some feathering of the throttle as conditions deemed it wise to take it a little easier than I might in the dry.
it is of course a much more distinctive shape than a 911 Turbo but it really is a best of both worlds kind of car. Italian Supercar flair and presence with Audi levels of componentry and build integrity.
Win/Win
