Agree with that largely. Its more of an event than the Porsche.
However, Steering is lighter and less communicative, and the wheel is too thick rimmed.. Porsche in those respects as good as anything you can buy so a tough act to follow. . Feel through your bum is not anywhere near as clear either. It doesn't have the razor sharp turn in of my old car though some geo tuning may improve that.
Its much more refined than the Porsche and has none of the ground clearance issues. The engine is just awesome and its quicker than a GT3 too. Gear change is a delight and better than the Porsche's so its a shame that the footwell is rather crowded in a manual G so no clutch foot rest and heel and toe is awkward. This is just the sort of thing that Porsche, Renaultsport, BMW M and Lotus always get right.
But its put together beautifully, better than the Porsche , and from lovely materials too. Rich creamy leather and loads of toys. And it looks so good, such a wonderful shape. Love it

Are you sure the SL isn't heavier than the 550-2? It's got all that front wheel drive gubbins to contend with. So its not as light , but coincidentally has exactly the same power to weight ratio.
Sorry to digress into things Porsche, but the GT4 press release came out last night. Looks good.
I expressed an interest back in October and my dealer rang this morning to take my (fully refundable) deposit. I'll have more info on allocation etc over the next couple of weeks but I'll be heading that route for the moment.

Love it
glad you love it, given i helped persuade you to buy it.... phewLove it
at last, a sensible comment re the gearbox from a proper driver....
GT3 gearchange is rather overrated IMHO actually. Works well only when you are forceful with it (And I've tried lots of em)
The snick of the metal gate is really iconic but its nicely weighted and sprung too.

oddly enough the electric seats are the most weighty items, weigh more than the front diff.... the anniversary is lighter than the gen 1 sl though.... by adopting the same carbon buckets..... i worked out the anniversary came in at 1320 kg and has 560 bhp.... :big smiles +++:dblue... one aspect to consider is that the 5.2l has much more low down torque than both your prev scud and gt3, almost turbo levels of torque low down.... so easy to overcome grip levels of even new rubber in 3rd on a straight line with 50% throttle in the winter.... from observation obviously!
