Hi from Hong Kong! Hey MrVert, I wondered if you had plumped for the car yet. For many years I have been pushing my boss to think about running a Lambo and today we finally had a look at a couple of 1st gen Superleggeras for sale. I have read a bunch of threads including this one regarding the SL (although most info was on the LP) and much of what I saw confirmed my general thoughts i.e. overall pros/cons, comparisons to F430, ownership experiences etc. which have been very informative. We looked at a tidy white 1st gen. today. An E-gear with around 25,000 miles on the clock. Sat next to a later LP version I actually surprisingly preferred the more pure lines of the original car to the (still gorgeous) facelifted version. He's now considering trading his F430 for the car in question, but I've been tasked with doing some more digging for info from owners, which is what brought me here.
for all its strengths, e-gear could be a bit of a nightmare in your lovely hong kong traffic !
Hey Andrew! Yes, that's a very good point having been here so long I often forget that it's not like this everywhere else in the world. However, car would be driven only a couple of days a week on mainly clear roads/highways.

Haha! That's the gist of it. Coincidentally, this month's issues of Evo has a short article on used Gallardos. I'm not at all superstitious and don't believe in fate, but on this occasion I'll make an exception...
