FWIW, I hate washing my cars for what it does to the brakes etc. My cars are ppf'd and/or ceramic coated. If there is severe dirt or mud, I'll do a localised sponge and watering-can jobby. The rest of the time it's Swiffer dusters and waterless wash. 5 years of supercar ownership and I have clean cars, no scratches from cleaning, and brakes that are pretty much like new.

I guarantee you are doing more damage with your sponge and watering can than you would if you were using a foam lance and pressure washer. I have no idea what damage washing a car does to the brakes? If you are referring to the oxidization that sometimes occurs on the disk after washing, this is purely temporary and disappears after one or two applications of the brakes.

Anyway, as long as you're happy with the paintwork then that's really all that counts !

larry, must say those brakes and discs look like new..... really helps with the sl2 wheels, the spokes are wide enough apart to allow one to get a hand inside... the sl1 wheels are most unhelpful in this regards.... callisto wheels inbetween

I have. My pic was taken after about 20 mins of standing following foaming for the second time. First foaming is always set much thicker. And as for driving, I do, hence why it was being washed clean. smile

Lovely pics of cars covered in foam and dirty ones.

After spending the weekend driving it, I already managed to slightly kerb one of the wheels being too cautious. I am going to be getting the car serviced shortly and planning to get the calipers painted in Yellow or green (https://goo.gl/images/yyqax3). Any opinions?

Any experience with BHP in Buckinghamshire?

A little update on the car, it went to BHP (Buckinghamshire High Performance) for its annual service and other maintenance work. The OCD kicked in and had some of ther items done including changed the colour of the wheels with new set of PS4S and had the calipers painted in Verde Mantis. I can’t wait for the decent weather in spring!

One of the cars i'm looking at has Carbon Fire brakes, can anyone confirm the kind of replacement cost for these. just cant seam to find the answer easily despite searching for the last few hours.

Thanks in advance

I suppose it’s easy enough to swap to steel brakes. CC is more expensive than I expected.

Oh yes quite a difference there LOL thank you.

Can they be swapped out for Steels easily when the time comes?

I know this is a loaded question but average life span of the CC?

Yes, you can swap out for steels, although I think you will have to replace the calipers as well as discs and pads, I could be wrong, but I think the CC calipers and discs are bigger than steels.

In terms of life span for CCs, I guess it depends on use. My car is 2011, it has CC brakes all round and I have done 22000 miles or thereabouts. The discs and pads are barely showing any wear, but then I don’t track the car, save for the odd belt down a runway. These things can last a very long time.
