One of the traders with Ferraris and Lambos mentioned that I would be better off with F430. Apparently the F430 will appreciate and Gallardo will depreciate, any truth to this?
rofl

He didn't happen to have a 430 handy to sell you, did he? Ask him what guaranteed, appreciated, buy-back value he'll give you on the 430 to see how much conviction he has in his predictions. wink

Some Ferraris may appreciate.

Some Lamborghinis may appreciate.

If we all knew which, and when, we'd be rich. biggrin

Re the grey SL on ebay (and also Pistonheads):

"How about this one ? Seems to have been around for a while.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2... "

An exactly similar 2007 grey SL is listed on Autotrader at Highline Performance, Bedford. Are Motorhub in West Yorkshire and Highline associated companies or has this one now moved on?

Both cars are listed as RHD UK cars, both have harness belts & 'roll cage', full/extra interior carbon trim (to steering wheel, handbrake handle, dashboard dial surround, etc), gloss black instead of the standard grey coloured wheels, orange instead of white (for UK) side repeaters to the front bumper, the £6k Alpine sound system/sat nav., the rear camera isn't mounted under the rear wing as per standard high rear wing fit. The discoloured grille around the rear exhausts, especially to the passenger side looks very similar.

The Motorhub advert says Autolign tested, MOT due 03/03/18, 28,000 miles, £89,989. Reg: V7 GLM.
The Highline advert says Autolign tested (but Autotrader highlights it's Cat D status), 29,000 miles. MOT (from MOT history) 29,093 miles on 21/04/18 against the reg V7 GLM, £99,989

Surely this is the same car?
OP, I'd strongly recommend avoiding a car of this nature that has a "category" marker against it for previous accident damage, especially if you're concerned about future resale. Higher mileage is one thing, potentially Unknown accident damage and who has repaired it is another thing. Good luck OP and show us some pics when you've "dealt" biggrin

Agreed MrC, I never bought a cat registered car and won’t buy anything with questionable history.

I am still tad confused with what to buy. Do I increase the budget or wait for the right manual car to come along? I just need to get out and try a few more cars?

Re 430.... https://aldousvoice.com/2018/05/08/av-engineering-...

From prices I see, gallardo doing just as well.

Get out there and drive a few.... A late pre lp is still a good car, there were changes to address criticisms starting with my06 when power also went to 520bhp...

If you stuck to budget, the pre lp manuals are acheivable... But you need to feel and bond with a manual rather than buy it as it'll hold its value.

Also.... Just a thought.... Who are going to drive prices up... The old guys who buy for sentiment have already bought, as have collectors and speculators... Ferrari have there fans but the younger generation absolutely love Lamborghini, the attention I get is bonkers, and it's these guys that'll buy your gallardo as a huracan is out of reach.... Lamborghini has a much higher profile in video games and music videos.... And YouTubers....

Well I wouldn't get too excited about Gallardo prices just now, having just offered my mint 8k mile SL2 in Arancio Borealis to the market. Pretty sobering to say the least.

I went to see the grey LP car. It was clean with a good service history, annual service plan with main dealers. The car drove well and they are willing to take it to Lambo dealer for inspection, no movement on price though.
The only tiny doubt I have is whether the grey is tad muted? The Mrs thinks Lambo doesn’t need to be in shouty colours.

They do look good in citrus colours, but you will also attract a lot of attention as a result.... Can you live with that.... And you will notice as the years go by, more cars are in white black and grey, citrus gets rare.... Until the hurcan...

I own a lime green one, though I was happy to buy, a lot of buyers didn't when signing the spec sheet due to lack of bravery, so getting a bright LP at your budget may require months of patience

There may be wiggle room with the yellow lp550-2 to get it close to budget

Where is this advertised please? I would prefer green or orange to yellow though. If it a citrus shade then I would prefer a coupe.

As it’s the 4th toy, I fear I have to be sensible with the budget frown

havent seen a green lp for sale for years excluding superleggera models.... i knew of two, even green pre-lp last advertised was 2014
lp cars in yellow and orange are not as rare, the yellow is a stunning pearl effect paint btw

only 'negative' re car above is its 2wd egear, so make take a bit longer to shift, as for now only 2wd manuals are appreciating (and specials- balboni, tricolore, anniversario), but if you are keeping for more than the summer, wouldn't bother me. thats why you might have wiggle room re price. if your benchmark is the motion 8 car, thats the cheapest LP car on PH/AT no?, then this is a younger and much lower miles.... fwiw i am sure this was advertised in 2014 at 3k miles for just over 100k.

There is this one as well.

Spec is a bit basic though and it doesn't have a glass engine cover but it does have wing from the SL. Looked around this car a while back, looks honest enough. Not sure the wing is OEM though.

The wing looks exactly the same as that on my SL2, so may well be OEM. I am not familiar with what was on the options list for these though back in the day. Easy enough to check I guess...just ask a Main Dealer.

Do you have any details of the car please? Year and mileage? Better to get the basic details so not wasting his time.

When are u looking to purchase? Now or in the near future?
Only asking as i have a 2009 lp560 grey convertible with 13.5k on the clock that will go up slightly.I think i'm ready for the big v12 bull so probably will sell this one.I drove the car last year to Italy and we left it there for this summer at our house.Such an amazing experience to drive it on Swiss and Germany b-roads.I will have to bring it back as it's due for the service so if you haven;t bought anything by september just drop a pm.The car is under a wrap now and i have to say that a wrap or ppf is a need to avoid chipping the bonnet.I didn't know that and by the time i was in Germany already had 2 stone chips on the bonnet.
