Is it the design language or is it partly what most customers want and euro safety crap?

Murci is the sweet spot in modern lambos I think.
I don't think it's too much to with euro safety regulations, I think it's more to do with his personal design style. He's taking too much "DNA" from too many different Lambo models and trying to make the designs work. Just focus on the model and build from it.

Gonna give this one a miss from new, was down with my dealer as getting an early car but as a lightly specced one (interior and exterior Carbon) comes in at almost £310k. I just can't see the value in a V10 lambo that you can't even fit any luggage in.

Fully specced up one of these is around £350k+ and from memory the perf was £250k fully loaded. Im sorry as awesome as it looks, it ain't £100k better.

I will get one but when they've taken that initial hit.

Option list for the STO is ridiculous. You have to pay, yes PAY to get the wing in carbon otherwise you get a big slab of black plastic. Also the new sport seat is an option, otherwise you get the old race seats. Want interior carbon on your STO? Guessed it, paid option.

For reference on the Perf the wing was forged carbon (free), both the comfort and race seats were free and interior had forged carbon (free). We had it good with the Perf because the days of no cost options are long gone.

If the the STO was limited you can justify some of the options but the fact the STO is starting to look like like another Performante it's ridiculous to charge for literally every option. I still have my deposit to get one of the first STO's to arrive, not sure if I'm going to go through with it. I wasn't blown away by the styling, I was expecting it to be way more aggressive and I just can't see anyone paying 300k+ for a Huracan. I'd rather sink my money in a SV and put it in storage, it'll be a better investment long term.

I don’t mean this in an offensive way, more a barb at how dealers have dealt with the launch of this car, but your posts on this subject have waved in the wind like a weather vane. Early days being told it was a limited car, it’s going to be very special, very exclusive, the one to keep etc, to every man and his dog is being offered one, it isn’t that great and it’s crazy money!

My thought process has been exactly the same throughout this. I, at one point, thought this was a car to buy and see it at least hold and possibly gain in value but that looks highly unlikely now. I had already decided I was out of the process for buying one new but reading what you wrote about the options would have been an absolute nail in the coffin. It’s an absurd amount of money for a Huracan and to say it’s dripping in carbon as my dealer told me is rubbish, unless you option it all!

I’m not sure if you can tell but they’ve annoyed me with all this....

Main concerns:

It is not light enough
The engine is the same as the perf
Way too expensive if you spec all the special bits to make it feel special
Needs to be a number limited car to hold decent residual value (1of 250 ect)

When you can go to a main dealer and buy a perf with 2 years official warranty remaining for £175k maybe less, these will be bought only by the wealthy who don't mind losing 100k pretty quickly.
Buying anything considered exotic now brand new (look at f8 tributo / 812) will cost you big money, the old days are long gone.

The icing on the cake being that there will be one more last "special" hurrah for the Huracan before they finish with the V10 model..

You have to half rate Lamborghini for there business model, they've rode the wave like most other manufacturers and have extracted the premium from there "Special cars" for there own taking, this started with the SVJ with fully optioned cars being around 70k dearer than a like for like specced SV (when it's basically the same car with the SVJ sounding worse) and has followed on with the STS being £100k dearer than a similar specced Perf.

Don't forget as well there was only 560 odd perf spyders produced and in the end they were offering these with substantial discounts to shift them.

As history has proved none of Lamborghini's limited edition/run cars actually hold a premium long term either so I would not be getting into one on the basis you will get out lightly after a brief ownership period as those days are long gone, especially with these prices...

My feeling is the UK will get very limited amount of STOs because dealers won't be able to secure deposits for allocations. I remember with the Perf the UK received extra allocations because US dealers weren't able fulfill the slots. Oh how times have changed.

And speaking of the US STO market...the STO is on the verge of been sold out. Lamborghini Newport which is one of the largest dealers in the Lambo dealer network is getting 24 slots total and they're basically 95% sold out with majority of the deliveries happening in 2022.

Most dealers in the US are taking 15% deposits to weed out flippers but there's still no shortage of buyers forking 15% deposits even though most deliveries won't happen until 2022. There's also a huge demand for Perf coupes which are now hovering around MSRP, some even higher depending on specs and mileage.

It's interesting to see what's happening in other supercar markets. I still remember the good ol' days when the UK supercar market was booming and stable, those days are long gone.

Not sure if its thing in the UK yet but there seem to be some global configs out to play with.

https://configurator.lamborghini.com/configurator/...

As mentioned, all the stuff you think you might get as standard is an option.

For me personally, I like it but that dual tone thing is dreadful. Could I justify it over a Perf, nope!

Any updates? I would really like to see this car on the track or being reviewed now that it is doing the rounds in show rooms around the world. Does anyone know if any journalists have their paws on the car somewhere for future publication?

Did anyone go to see this at the UK events yet? I have seen it and am considering an order but am hesitant due to numbers, pricing over Perf etc.

I think that the high price and reluctance of people to buy new at over £300k will quickly kill the values on the 2nd hand market, as people wait for prices to drop.

Isn’t a 765LT also somewhere in that price bracket (300k or more specced)? Is there a reason why the Lamborghini should cost less - V8/V10, kind of limited numbers, track special supercar bracket.

I doubt you'll see a massive dip in prices for the STO like we did with the Perf. Dealers aren't calling up clients or begging around social media to fill allocations. Lambo will build the STO for 2 years, get as many out as possible but productions numbers will remain low.

Also keep in mind the Huracan is getting replaced in 2024/25 and it'll get a V8, the STO is the last of hardcore variant of the Huracan and last of it's kind that has a NA engine.

Take back what I have said so far, its very different in the flesh to a picture.

Launch colour looks pap in a photo, IRL, love it!

IIRC 5 per dealer per year, something like 5 this year (all sold), 5 next followed by then something like 2 last part of the year. 11 dealers iirc so the UK will see around 250 cars and I think was the actual number quoted.

My issue with it, whilst it is very hardcore and really must be treated to track use and not farting about on UK roads, is simply the cost by the time you bolt all the carbon on........and you want the carbon.

It can be spun whatever way you want but I would not be confident about strong residuals on these. I don’t have a big history with the brand and was offered a slot without even enquiring, I say offered, it was pushed quite hard. If I was offered it to this extent then a lot of bigger fish must have said no. If the uptake has been this slow then why will the secondhand market be good? Speaking to my dealer a few weeks back I still think I could get one of the last cars if I wanted. Doesn’t look good and it’s one of the main reasons I don’t go for it, plus it’s overpriced too IMO. I might be wrong but I feel IF I end up wanting one, I’ll be able to get one in a few years at a decent discount used.
