Gallardo... what's the catch?

No to both. I’ve been looking off and on, but have never been to pluck up the courage.

And I’ve never driven any of the cars Ive ever bought before, but what does that matter?

Where do you go for a service? And how much? Same about a clutch replacement (pre-LP, e-Gear)

Yeah looks a good car. I’d initially written off an e-gear but seemingly they’re not as bad to live with as you’d be made the believe, so they’re on my radar. But, alas, a convertible isn’t despite this being really good value.

Re e-gear, you just need to check how far the clutch has gone by doing a driving off test - set off in first gear and a fresh clutch should hit 1500rpm and no more. Every 100rpm above equates to something like 20% reduction in clutch life. (Or it might be the other way round - 200pm = 10%, please google this.)
Then learn to drive e-gear as a manual in Sports mode for the quickest shifts. ISTR that lifting off the gas between gears can help preserve clutch life, too, and NEVER drive in Auto mode. I think traffic is to be avoided where possible?

I really like the roofline and the silhouette of the coupe and you lose this if you have the spider.

Yeah the e-gear advice you've stated is what I've seen, read and heard from the research I've been doing. In addition, when approaching a junction etc, select neutral as opposed to letting the engine do the braking and wearing the clutch out even more.

Even still, a replacement clutch and flywheel are 'only' about £4K and if you follow the above advice it can prolong the life of it.

Have a couple of cars up for sale now so I've taken the first leap toward Gallardo ownership.

Hasn't really sunk in yet. The Clio sale was too quick for me to absorb, and so was the negotiation with this. Couldn't leave a deposit fast enough!

Well I spoke with the seller, he sent me videos of start up, all the service history and receipts, interior, exterior, wheels etc

Thank you! And yes, it is. It looked a flat yellow in the photos but the videos the seller sent me showed it in sunlight and it’s a pearlescent finish - it looks fantastic!

Nah don't worry about it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Hopefully another potential owner can take on the baton with this thread and document their search... ideally it won't take them the 4 years it took me to grow a decent set of balls and get one.
