I plead with you all to talk me out of one!!!
Not just me then! Have you seen the JayEm vids on YouTube?

Had mine 5 years now and not had any catastrophic or expensive failure. Sorry to disappoint.

To be fair, even listening to Jayemm’s tale of it needing £9k spent to get the suspension sorted, the figures aren’t much different to what a bad year can look like on the Aston.

The question is whether I want to see those running costs reduced or whether I remain happy to pay them.

JayEmm did go into Gallardo ownership with a known rough example, so I don’t think that’s typical of Gallardo ownership experiences. There are plenty of cherished examples out there, but they are getting on now so some extra maintenance is to be expected. When buying I was looking for impeccable maintenance to at least give me some piece of mind.

JayEmm's is a Mk1 Gallardo, the Mk2 (LP5xx) are a lot more Audi and hence a lot more reliable.

I find the best way to manage the costs of servicing and what not is to get the car serviced at the main dealer and anything they highlight as need fixing then take it to some place like REPerformance.

However you just have to accept that some stuff will cost you a fair chunk to fix.

As I am following....

Not sure I am brave enough still. Especially not in the current economic climate.

Quite strange this popped up today.

I've been idly browsing again as I did a couple of years ago prior to getting my 911 Turbo S.

Something like this https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/15155489 really floats my boat.

Prices seem to have increased over last couple of years surprisingly (or not?).

One thing I just can't be arsed with is the constant worry of big bills (911 under OPC warranty) and not feeling like I can just jump in it to the shops a la 911.

There appears to be a disproportionate number of SL’s for sale at the minute.

I’ve just bought the green one from THJ. 2k miles SL 570/4 - I’m off to classic Le Mans at the moment but ridiculously excited to get it in a week or so.

Went shopping for R8’s and ended up coming home with that!

Well done on securing the green SL2. That's got the full carbon fibre interior which they don't all have and is probably the lowest mileage UK SL2. You mention shopping for an R8 but what attracted you more to an SL2 as opposed to a more modern Hurican? (This is coming from an SL fan so is in no way meant as a criticism of you choosing an SL2, just interested.)

Right fk it, I'm on the lookout for a Gallardo now. I've hummed and harred too much about it, and life's too short.

I'm looking for:

Coupe
Manual
Not blue leather interior
<£70K
<40K miles

ETA: Will need to move the Clio on first

That yellow one in Fleet looks interesting but I don't know the state of the cats (ie replaced or original).

There's an orange one in Scotland but the mileage is higher. Replacement engine at 25k, mind. Says sports exhaust so maybe different cats as well.
