Very tempting. I think these are epic and entirely in keeping with Lambo’s generally bonkers philosophy.

Have a look at the latest Harry’s Garage where he picks his car of the year.

Love it. Have you actually driven anywhere a normal version couldn’t?
You could take a (4wd) normal one on winter tyres to most of the same places but you would be going very slowly and only do it once!
Some rough roads, and ride height/tall tyres are the biggest help. The underbody protection also helps your mindset, whether or not it's really protecting much! Overall, you can drive it like a normal car without thinking about car constraints.
Rally mode works well too, and you really can have some fun without feeling like you're going to lose it (...so far). Brilliant traction in the snow

I had a RWD Evo and sold it because it's so fast you hardly ever get to use it, and the one time I took it up to the highlands for a weekend, the rough roads to one of the hotels was beyond it. Sterrato is much more useable everywhere.
It's slightly slower but fast enough, and although it's not quite as sharp it still goes where you point it.
Roof box (don't laugh...) is very helpful for carrying luggage, though you do notice a difference in handling with the weight on top.
All in, a very practical car!

It sounds like a fun machine. I totally agree that many cars (and bikes) are now so fast that you have to be VERY careful to avoid trouble.

The reason I asked the question was that back in the day I used to drive standard awd Gallardos on some pretty rough roads and, contrary to what I expected, they were absolutely fine. I also say lots of other high performance cars been used in ways that I think very few people would believe possible.

Yep, I agree, and am not generally shy on using cars in various situations!
Sterrato isn't a total game changer, but changes do make it easier, and I would say better, to use on all occasions.
And with all that, you still have the engine, which is the main event.

Lambo didn’t manage to produce the promised winter tyres in time, but luckily Michelin do the right sizes.

Interesting reading this thread back and remembering - as a non-owner- how consumed with envy I was about 1 year ago !

Was lucky enough to acquire one in October last year ( cancelled order ) and I have to say it's one of the rare times in life where the reality of ownership has exceeded the expectation.

I could go on for days about what it is I love about it , but for brevity:

Everything* about it is just brilliant.

( * now it's got an exhaust valve controller , and to a lesser extent: digital rear view mirror)

I presume you have researched the car pretty well so if at this point you are even slightly seriously considering it I would strongly urge you to go for it!

Thank you for your reply - yours looks fantastic!

I did see your post about options but didn't look like anyone replied - did you get anywhere?

Guessing the exhaust valve was something you sorted yourself? And the digital mirror?

Prices seem to be all over the place, but see one went on Collecting Cars a few months ago.

Cheers

Not really ... I managed to sort of cobble it together using screenshots of Harry M's review and best guess from my EVO pricelist + inflation.

Yes I went for the SST valve controller ( German company) which so far has been great and was very easy to install.

Went for a Wolfbox digital RVM which was cheap, but a bit of a ball-ache installing the cables to and from I must admit ...

Indeed ... I think there's still a few unadvertised brand new ones still available also, so would be worth making a few calls...

Yes, this was mine last week. Not been washed since April last year!

It’s a cliche, but these really are the last of a kind. No hybrid, no annoying bleeps, great noise. Decided to keep long term for that reason, and why would i pay the big hike to a less useable new car?

I haven’t had it off winter tyres more or less since I got it, but this year I’m putting it back on original rubber and taking roof box off to have more of a play with it.

It's funny isn't it - how these cars look so much better dirty ?

Just got mine back from PPF treatment - I can't see myself ever washing it again 😆
