i may be new to the forum but not this site and especially the classified (in there all the time checking out whats new)....the previous user said how the changes are in the wrong direction and it was easier than this one...i beg to differ, I used it when traffic was low and i love it...have to do a bit but it makes the search for the ride you want a lot easier then just going from page to page, the layout is great and its ease to learn isn't high at all.

this is similar to what Facebook does, when the make a big noticeable change, people are up in arms, angry and voicing their dislike of the new format/look etc....but after a week or two they quiet down...why? mainly because they realized how much better it was than the previous. Change is inevitable and all I am saying is give it a chance, give them time to work out the kinks and glitches and when it is working perfectly, i'm sure you will be blown away and wish they did it sooner smile

My ads disappeared and if try to log in to mod ad(or find details) keep getting message that username or password are incorrect. How do I get this corrected. As a site to advertise cars Pistonheads has done itself a lot of damage with such a badly organised makeover.

I am so impressed with the new classified, It is slow, looks like auto trader, The previous classified was great, quick to get into and straight to the car of you choice. To me it was part of the brand.

Gents,

What's the point of having a Website Feedback topic if you're just going to ignore the comments submitted.

It's painfully obvious virtually everyone would like the old site back.

I'd say it's painfully obvious that people are complaining before trying it properly. And that the majority of complainers are very light users.

Because:
A)The original way of using the classifieds is still right there. Just below the improved search.
B)Look how many posts the last 4 contributors to the thread make up...

To me it appears people are complaining because either they are unable to scroll down for some unknown reason (lack of opposable thumb?), or they are currently wondering why their add doesn't display (a bug that's being worked on apparently).

Complaining about their own lack of ability to use a web page because the font has changed a bit, or because of a known problem as if it's a feature, isn't the action of someone I think they should pay too much attention to really.

If the majority of users were unhappy. the people complaining would have much higher post counts, and this thread would be MUCH MUCH longer.... And it's actually quite short.

I can see the frustration that most people are having with the new classified section and I have to admit I am part of that group - but purely because I am searching for a new car.
I think once it is fully operational it will actually be an improvement on the previous site, which will be something of an achievement. Glitches are to be expected, but so far a lot has gone wrong. Let's fix it sharpish chaps!

Stuart,

I take back what I said earlier.

Working fine now, the full make and model listing like the old system now works a treat. Ha it's just about the same as the old system so I'll carry on using it that way.

The reason I find the old system so good is that being the type of person who scans through the listings on an almost daily basis because all the models are there, in front of you it's easy to get happily distracted onto cars I hadn't even considered before. (Too easy sometimes, oh the wasted hours....)

Anyway sorry for jumping the gun earlier.

Autotrader springs to mind. They killed that website so we all flocked here. Now I need to find a new place to waste hours of work looking at my wish list!

Yes, it works. Not a seperate search line, but it will pick up PX stuff. One of the jobs it to develop a little synonym so that you can make it determine between a search for "Audi A4" and a "PX Audi A4."

We've just got a few other things to resolve first!

Totally agree. The advance search is a nightmare. eg 4 cars under 4k within 200 miles, a fair drop from last week.
Ok ther may be teething props but I think they have spoiled the lay out

Jobs for the boys - Utter, utter, bks.

Seriously, some people really need to grow up. I'm fairly sure the people responsible didn't wake up one morning with the intention of really fking up someone's day.

For years the classifieds have had a crap filtering system, now it's going to have one of the best. This will be useful and help it to be the defualt place to search for cars. Is the fact that it doesn't currently work really worth coming on here to screem vitriol?

You can never be 100%. But lets say you mean 99.9% then yes you can. But why would they spend a couple of million (and where would they get it), on that sort of testing project and setup. When they can be 90% sure for a fraction of that and I'm sure in a few weeks all the fuss will be over and it'll be generating income for the next 10 years or so. The lost revenue over a few weeks live running with bugs, has to be less than a massive 99.9% sure testing project. It is just car sales. It's not revenue and customs.

I'm very disappointed and confused by the new classified site. Of the 13 Aston Martin Rapides advertised today only 4 show the price and none give the year of manufacture. Unless PH improves the layout Autotrader will be my preferred choice to monitor prices prior to a purchase.

Ive been trying to edit my old Diablo ad for 2 or 3 days now. It is live but not in 'My Ads' so i created a new one which says it is live but isnt.

Pain in the butt when you are looking for a quick sale frown

Sent emails the lot but i imagine they are inundated with them.

Also, I cant even get into the classifieds section for the last 24hrs

There was already a filter system on the site which worked well I thought. Its called a mouse... You clicked on Classifieds, then scrolled down, click on Fiat Fundingo and hey presto, if there were any up for sale, up they popped. in the words of the Meercat
" SIMPLEZE " But I am sure the tech guys/geeks slaving away in a dark corner somewhere at PH mansions will get it sorted. and as was famously said " We are where we are " Give em a chance I say !!
