No characters other than 0-9 and 1-z? What decade is this?

oh well, shouldn't really complain on my first post. but...
seems rather restrictive for no good technical reason.

And there's a minimum length of 3 characters.

The irony being that it never used to be like that, the username was an almost free form and fairly resilient to old Bobby tables.
