I thought PH had stopped using adverts which auto played sound, I just had a gillette advert with autoplaying sound. If it continues will need to reinstate adblocker on PH.

Mine was BetFred I think (or may be Bet 365).

Didn't get the full link but it came through Zentrick if that helps. In the reply row rather than header/footer.

I can also feel a need for adblocker,

Its one thing having the video playing, but when the sound comes on, thats just taking the piss.

Folk in my office can hear this stuff.

I accept the need for the adverts, hence not running adblocker, but the sound is a poor show, and I block them on anysite that uses them. Glad it's not only me though, as I thought PH had previously said they weren't having them with sound.

Edit: Another, for VSSalon or the like.

Ive just installed Adblocker on Chrome and it works a treat.

And pages load faster here, and on other websites. Its astonishing how much of a webpage is advertising data.

Don't know why i didn't do it sooner to be honest.

Just done it for firefox, feel the same way, I used to appreciate the fact websites need the income, but i feel a lot of these adverts are starting to push customers away rather than click them.

I got an ad with sound about 30 mins ago and immediately closed PH and went to another site. I've come back to see if there was a thread about it here on website feedback...and there was. I don't want an ad with sound and no easy way to turn the sound off.

There's one on every thread as of earlier today as far as I can tell.

Another reason not to frequent the site.

Well done, All.

This thread suddenly started shouting at me to buy grey-defeating hair colour from Nice'n'Easy, others have been audibly trying to sell me Olay skin products and Tampax.

Is one of the hamsters taking the piss?

Same issue here. Not happy, this seems a step too far.

Seriously PH, sort this crap out. If you want to drive people away and dramatically reduce the hits on your website, thereby reducing your ability to sell ad space, you're going about it exactly the right way.

I get that you want to sell ad space that I may choose to ignore, but any website that effectively starts to "take over" my PC with either auto play video or sound soon gets ignored by me.

You are PH. You have a very loyal following. People stay loyal because of what PH is in terms of contributors and website content.

Do not get arrogant and abuse that loyalty.
