Sound on adverts

The new adverts on the right hand side of the forum now have sound on them. As I, and I expect most people on the forum, are using this site whilst at work it isn't the best to have this blaring out of the computer every time you go on a forum page.

Can we please have an option that we can tick in our preference file that defaults the sound off? Otherwise we will just go down the adblocker route and not see any of the paid for advertising at all.

Thanks for your feedback. Could you say specifically what type of page on the forums and what advert it is and I will raise this with the relevant department.

My guess its the Honda advert that seams to be on every topic you go on

Yes it is very annoying, it's on practically every page I visit, I have no interest in a Honda CRV, especially one which can "know the speed limit and stop you exceeding it!!"

I'm currently getting a different ad so I cannot see this at the moment. I have informed the ad team of this.

Just to confirm, this ad is playing sound when the page loads, regardless of whether the mouse hovers over it/clicks on it?

Yes it is, and short of pausing the video there is no way of disabling it...

Yep, same here. Running Safari if that makes a difference. Has done it on the last 6 pages loaded in various sub-forums including this one

There is a way to disable all of them - adblocker for safari. Install it and you don't have to bleat anymore about problematic adverts.

The Ad team are currently investigating and running some tests to try and isolate the ad
