I've only just noticed so pardon if this has already been aired, the search forums function has been 'disabled'.
Is it just me or general? What's the prognosis Ted?

I've tried to look for stuff a few days old....is it possible while the search facility in disabled to amend the page numbers at the top of the thread to be more than 1.2


I have tried to access later page numbers via the slow route...but my computer gets bored after trying to access page 7 and slows down so much that I have to give up.

'fraid so. Looks like I need to give it a good going over as it's just too slow currently and it causes everyone problems when someone does a search.

I know this search function is giving you bother at the moment and it is not my intention to add to that. It may be timely though to mention something I had considered suggesting some time ago.

When I use the search function I often know that the record was either posted by commented on by me. Would it be possible to add a tick box that limited the search to 'My Stuff'?

Ok, I should have a temporary solution allowing searching to recommence in the next 48 hours.

Ok, the search facility should be available this evening. An archive database is being created on which searches will be done - this won't then interfere with the activities in the forum generally.

It does mean that searches won't include "today's" posts though.

It would be handy to be able to search several fora in one go. I expect this is asking a lot and would be quite computer-bitty-hungry, though. You know, hit "Griffith", "Chimaera" and "General TVR" when you need to know something about golf.....

Ah, I see I'm not the only one asking for a more advanced search-option. I felt guilty you know . . .

Is it just me or is search not producing any results? I'm searching for stuff I know is there somewhere but getting no results back for everything!

It may be that you're searching for items that were posted in the last couple of days. The search database is a copy of the main database is a snapshot taken a few days back.

Ted - there still seems to be a problem.

I just (1 April)searched on "pothole" in SP&L for 'Last month'. I expected to see: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=164017&f=10&h=0&hw=pothole posted 18 March, but got only www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=161280&f=10&h=0&hw=pothole posted 8 March.
