What do you think to these reports?
People not using the site for things which can easily be fixed -- EG allowing a Desktop view.

Can we have some feedback please, as loyal users I think that's the least we deserve ;-)

I tell you whats pissing me off the most on the forced mobile view, the issue of not being able to jump to where you last viewed a thread!
If I open one that I'm following it puts you at the start of it.
One link at the top will take you to the very end, but nothing else.
What if there has been a few pages of replies since I last visited?
You have to sit there clicking previous page over and over again.

Complete ste. My time spent on PH has dropped dramatically over the last month
It's a real pain.

More annoying is when a mobile page loads, but then loads the ad and throws you back to the top of the page. You have to remember not to click anything until the second page load is complete. Otherwise, you look at the page, it flickers and you realise you have selected something you didn't want.

I must admit that I don't really bother with PH unless there is something specific I want to talk about, of if I'm really bored at work like now. I don't do casual browsing anymore.

I don't have any bookmarks when I first click on the tab, if I leave it about 6 or 7 seconds they all appear.
Didn't realised that was what happened. Just tried and timed it. 33 seconds to load!
How the blazing fk can a skin change cause that kind of delay?
33 seconds is an eternity on modern hardware.

Is the longest loading for me - a tad over 3 seconds. Running with an Adblocker.

Because the "skins" never were skins - they were entire website implementations onto the same back-end data.

Even so, I dread to think what kind of programmer implemented code that takes 30 seconds to read a list of a user's bookmarks!

As it happens I requested an update yesterday, and as such there is a meeting happening tomorrow (Thursday). After this I am hopeful that we'll have a better understanding of how things are moving forwards. Regarding the feedback to you guys, as I mentioned before it has been agreed internally that all the updates will come from the Dev team, and as such we'll need them to construct a response / update (although I will obviously remind them that people are keen for more information ASAP)

Thank you again for your continued feedback and understanding, it is genuinely valuable and appreciated.

Can you please get confirmation tomorrow as to whether desktop view will ever be an option on mobile again, and if not, why would that be?
It is very clear that many people want that choice

Cheers.

Can you impress upon the development team that the addition of "Desktop site" on Mobile devices would make things a lot, lot better for many people.

When you delete a response it goes back to the desktop version so it's in there somewhere! Just let us see it! So close yet so far!

If you shrink the width of the browser window when using a desktop, then at around 763 pixels width it switches to mobile view. So I would imagine that enabling desktop view on mobile would be a simple case of lowering that switchover value to zero.

They've removed the Content-Security-Policy header. Which is a downgrade in security and will give mixed content warnings, or display the site as though it's as insecure as http.

They obviously didn't find a silver bullet either then.

You're right - I've just noticed that the security icon in Firefox is now a padlock with a yellow warning triangle over it.

This gives the text "Parts of this page are not secure (such as images)".

I would suggest that this is probably acceptable though, especially when compared to the alternative which is broken links for http images.
