Most stuff's appearing like the first image (basically, as it's done since the start of this saga), but I've just seen a single isolated example of the second in the middle of a thread... WTF?
It seems to be your own posts. If someone quotes one of your own posts then you (only) see your name in bold and then your post starting on the next line, with no formatting or bubble or text speech arrow thingy. At least that's how it's appearing for people quoting my posts anyway. Everyone else's quotes have those stupid text speech arrow thingies.
Ah, that makes sense.

It's broken, but it makes sense...

Can you get rid of that awful insipid palid washed-out blue colour and its horrible font.

I liked the crisper darker blue.

Made me less feel I need to go to Specsavers.

It's a huge improvement in terms of appearance, looks coherent now at least and it significantly cleaner/more modern.

I can only imagine the layers of cruft and tactical bodge that have had to be stripped away to get the forum to this point. Having supported some fairly large forums in the past (although probably only 1/10 size of PH), both vBulletin & phpBB, I do sympathise.

All those little plug-ins, customisations, layout tweaks and other things that seemd such a good idea at the time really come back to bite you on the arse when it's time to upgrade/change things.

The fact that so many obvious and effective changes can now be made within a relatively (in PH terms) short time period. It's not perfect, but it's progress from where we were and hopefully a good indication of where you see things going.

Don't worry, PH techs, at least some of us appreciate the effort thumbup
<nods> Agreed.

The Ceefax analogy - well, that's what we've just come from. Sometimes, there is a lot of whinging about anything approaching change, just because.

Bookmarks still take 30+ seconds to load. Ah well!
How many do you have, I have 114 and it takes 2 seconds.
Quick for me with 100+ bookmarks on Windows 10 with Chrome, IE & Edge. Takes 1-2 seconds.
289 bookmarks load in 7 seconds for me.

Holy fk, what an absolutely atrocious mess.

You guys need to hire a decent designer/UX consultant ASAP.

Also, do you guys get your changes checked for accessibility? I'm pretty sure the white text on washed out blue background would fail big time.

It's certainly no worse. yes

I think some people just hate change. In a couple of weeks there will be another change and people will be wanting it put back to how it is right now. smile

I'm partially colourblind, as are a significant % of males. This new colour scheme makes reading almost painful.

I'm all for change, but there must be tests you can do to ensure that those with a slight disability are not marginalised.

Can you not provide an alternative for those of us who struggle with Laura Ashley?

There are plenty of places where websites can be tested for accessibility purposes to avoid exactly this.

You would expect a site with the level of traffic this one gets to bother about it but, apparently not.

Must admit, the pale blue colour does make things a little more difficult to read.

I don't mind the new look but I do have two requests:

On threads with multiple pages could the page numbers be in the same size font to the thread title as they are very small at the moment.

When you change the look of the forum could you give us a warning - nearly gave me a heart attack!

I was somehow under the impression they were *required* to take accessibility into account?

Using Mac OS 10.6.8 and Firefox 48.0.2. This is the newest OS that my ageing MacBook Pro will run reliably and the latest Firefox that will run on this OS. Before all the powerfully built company directors chime in, we can't all afford to have the latest kit. I seem to have 1,018 bookmarks, which probably doesn't help. Might have to have a cull.

ETA. Same time to load on Chrome 49.0.2623.112 and Safari 5.1.10 - obviously both out-of-date too.

Looks pretty good, could just do with a bit more boldness in the colours, everything looks a bit washed out for the blues of links/borders etc.

Doesn't that require they ensure screen readers can work with the site, rather than place constraints on colour schemes?

What is this pale blue colour you're referring to? On desktop it's all white and light grey alternating post backgrounds with black lettering. The only (dark) blue (I have no pale blue anywhere) on my screen is the small amount as the header background and the forum title font.

confused

edit: the background to my own posts is pale blue, but that's all.

That might be a good idea.

However, I seem to recall that deleting bookmarks has to be done one at a time, so you could be a while there.
