Can anyone explain all the multitude of fking colours on My Stuff.

I have Bold Purple, thin purple, bold blue and thin blue. With a mixture of blue and purple page numbers both bold and thin. It looks fking awful and I haven't got a clue what's going on.

Also the font seems to be blurred - maybe because it's so washed out? Argghhhhh its fking horrible.
I asked this on the preious page, and then quoted an answer from three pages back. It kind of, but not entirely answers this.

I can't see too much wrong with the new forums - seems to load really quickly as well.

I really wish, though, that they had incorporated that thing seen in every other forum, where a post with a quote contains an arrow or something which links to the original, quoted post.

Without it, these forums are incredibly frustrating to navigate if it's a long thread....

Hi there, thought I'd post as someone who does suffer from visual problems! (keratoconus)

Literally can't see a problem with the new forums. Looks nice to me; I think I prefer it!

Tried in both Chrome & IE and they look the same, the only difference being strangely Chrome shows the old PH logo, and IE has the new one...

I'll have to try at home as well to see if there's any difference.

That could only ever apply to new quotes going forward, simply because the old quoted text doesn't contain the post reference.

You don't remember correctly. The Techs posted in this very thread - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... .

IMO the forums a big step forward - no complaints there.

However, there do seem to be a large number of files coming over the network, and quite a few failures so idk if something's broken.

That would be fine, though - way better than the current situation where you scroll back to find the context for an original quote only to give up several pages later.....

Indeed. The quoted text is literally just text in your post, enclosed in quote tags.

That's how people can do those hilarious (sic) "fixed that for you" type quotes. smile

Well I can't read that very well, the light blue pastel colour blends into the grey white background too much.

And this is why we need skins. Actual lightweight CSS skins, that is.

Suspect we may have some weird blue dress / gold dress effect going on with different people's visual perceptions. To me it looks fine with a fairly neutral / mid contrast balance which is pretty standard for current website styles.

What's needed therefore is a simple post counter integrated into the code
That way the post you were quoting would have a number which would allow you to click back to the original so you can find the context.

So instead of a quote from you looking like this;

[ quote=ClockworkCupcake]
[ /quote]

it should look like this;

[ quote=ClockworkCupcake, post: 25298118,]
[ /quote]

It really shouldn't be that hard to implement and would make a huge difference to the usability of the forums....

That would certainly work, and we already do have a post counter (I think). If you look at the URL of the thread in your address bar, then t=******** could well be the post number.

Like normal people probably have.
